**My Rating 3.5/5**

**TLDR:** My second experience with Atlys was significantly better than my first. Their support is more responsive, the processing timeline for Japan was incredibly fast, and home pickup made the process very convenient.

My biggest concern, however, remains transparency around the final document pack that was submitted. Also, they don't share the visa tracking information that you can look up on VFS/Embassy website, and can see status only on their app.

If Atlys is solving a specific problem for you, such as home pickup, urgent processing, or you're getting a good discount, I think it's worth considering. For more complex applications where you're relying on additional supporting documents or requesting special visa considerations, I'd still prefer to apply on my own.

**Full review**

I recently used Atlys for my second visa application, so I thought I'd share my experience.

For context, I usually prefer preparing and submitting my own visa applications. I like having complete control over the paperwork and knowing exactly what is being submitted. This time, however, I chose Atlys because they offered home pickup, which meant I didn't have to travel to the VFS Centre, a problem due to jurisdictional issues.

Compared to my first experience, Atlys has improved quite a bit.

The biggest positive was how much easier it was to reach a human. The initial interaction still starts with AI, but this time I was consistently able to speak with real people who followed up on my queries.

The second standout was the speed.

From passport pickup to receiving my passport back with the visa took only four days. My passport was picked up on Tuesday, the visa was issued and dispatched back on Saturday, and the passport was shipped the very same day. I honestly wasn't expecting such a quick turnaround for a Japan visa, and they deserve credit for that.

That said, the speed almost worked against them once. I had scheduled my passport pickup for Wednesday, but the pickup agent attempted to collect it on Tuesday without informing me in advance. Fortunately, I happened to be nearby and was able to rush home to hand over my passport. Otherwise, the pickup would have failed after the driver had travelled quite a distance.

Where I still think Atlys needs to improve is communication and transparency.

I wanted to review the final application before it was submitted because I had prepared my own cover letter and additional supporting documents, all of which I had emailed separately.

Cover letter is very important for Japan visa application, and I had specifically requested a longer term visa and provided additional financial documents and other G7 visas and stamps.

I asked multiple times to review the final document pack. I even scheduled a dedicated Zoom call specifically for this purpose, clearly mentioning the agenda in advance. Unfortunately, the representative joined unprepared and wasn't aware that the meeting was supposed to be a document review, so the call didn't achieve much. Also, sometimes the agent on call isn't aware of the application and you get the standard response that I have taken your request and will share it with the team that's working on your visa.

They had told that they don't share their cover letter but share all other documents like itinerary and reservations. I only received the itinerary from them and did not get a confirmation either about the cover letter that I had drafted for my application. So that remains a mystery.

After the visa was approved and I got a 15 day, single entry visa, I again asked them to tell me exactly what had been submitted. Initially, they only mentioned the standard mandatory documents and didn't include the additional documents I had emailed. When I specifically asked about them, they confirmed over the phone, and later again on chat, that those documents had indeed been submitted. At that point, I had no option but to take them at their word.

To be fair, I don't think it's appropriate for me to fault Atlys for the visa that was ultimately issued. The visa they obtained matches the travel period covered by my employer's NOC, and I've since heard from several people that Japan has become much stricter about issuing longer-duration visas. That decision ultimately rests with the embassy, not with the visa agent.

My main criticism is simply that I never got the confidence of seeing the final application package before it was submitted, and if they actually used my cover letter that I wrote for this request or a standard template they use.

Overall, this was a much better experience than my first one, and it's clear that Atlys has improved.

Would I use them again? Maybe, if they solve a specific issue for me.

Would I use them for a complex application where I was relying on detailed cover letters, additional supporting documents, or requesting special visa considerations? Probably not. In those situations, I'd still rather prepare and submit the application myself so I have complete visibility into what's actually being filed on my behalf and I can accept full responsibility of the outcome.
