Thinking of switching DAWs... what are you all using?
Good evening, ladies and djents, I come to you in search of expert opinions.
I have been using FLStudio for more than 20 years, and although I'm familiar with it and moderately facile (advanced intermediate, let's say), I feel like either I'm using it poorly for recording, mixing, and mastering my tracks or it's finally starting to show me its limitations. I'm trying to put together an album in the next year or two, and I feel like I'm banging my head against the software more than struggling with my own writing process, and it's gotten very frustrating.
I briefly used Albeton and found it tough to come to grips with, but that was more than a decade ago at this point. FWIW budget is not as big a concern for me as learning curve: Pro Tools, for example, is probably my leading contender if I switch; however, I'm worried it's going to take me a really long time to learn it adequately.
Anyway, I'm curious: what do you use, and would you recommend it for a hobbyist looking to put out an album?
