On Hunting A Human
Every word I write next is technically evidence. Though I will not be caught, so I do not mind so much. The Lotuses, a group, even criminals find suspicious, eventually got desperate enough they stopped directly hiring people. They started a bounty.
First it was 50,000.
Then 100,000.
Now it’s 150,000.
Still not enough, but I can admire their effort. However, at this rate, a hundred thousand increase over four days, if I wait long enough, it will be. Out of all the animals, usually four legged, but sometimes two that I have been tasked to hunt, this Theseus character has been the most likable.
The reason of course all others have continually failed is simple. The bounty is not for Theseus, but a Princess he has in tow. To capture her and ship her off to the Lotuses, in which they will, if they have any sense, which as time goes by, along with doing my own observing on their management I highly doubt. Though nevertheless, if they do still have any sense will then ransom the Princess off back to her family for enough money for several hundred lifetimes.
Thus, the understandable, but completely inefficient focus on her, and not the two others with her. Theseus and the Scrarcan. I have to get rid of him first, then the Scrarcan, and then, and only then would I be able to capture the target.
Why, there is a famous fashion designer, from the most important family in The Council, and a Human following around the target I still have no sane idea on. Though I am grateful, as without these two she would have been captured almost immediately.
Obviously I can not use actual munitions, even for the Human, as one poorly aimed shot would mean injuring either the target or the Scrarcan, leading to being hunted down like an animal to the edge of the galaxy. So I am, like all those who have failed before me, and all those who will continue to fail after me relegated to taser and stun rounds.
I’ve been following them since Wednesday afternoon. Like everyone else I saw the Victory Press article and along with hearing discussions, and price tags about the three from my fellow associates. The bounty came soon after the embarrassing attempt during the Victory Press debacle.
They have survived at this point from their own skill along with luck, divine intervention, and at times my own, in the form of carefully placed taser rounds on people they long thought they outran.
I must say, I don’t actually mind him so much. I find he is constantly injured and humiliated enough that when he does get out things, I know it is out of hard work and grit. Not any silly notions of Humans being the best fighters in the galaxy. The one wish, though silly but has been crossing my mind more and more often as I follow him, is a simple one.
Between the two of us, I wonder who would win in a fair fight.

Author’s Note: I wrote this because once again I was almost late. So, it’s real short and sweet. And a reference to something, as I do when I am in distress.
Vaguely important second note: This bonus one shot is part of a writing challenge in which I write and post something every day until I finish writing a series. I like having bonus chapters, which is why there is funny blue text at the bottom of the screen. But it is made to be enjoyed without reading the series.
Thanks for reading. :}
