For those of you that may remember, I shared a rant a while back about how my boyfriend kept saying he would fix my car but it just kept sitting for months. Well, as of a few weeks ago, he finished fixing it!! And I'm so grateful that I waited and was patient. A lot of people said I needed to leave him, that he didn't care about me, that I needed to just take matters into my own hands and go to a shop. I did get a quote from a shop, but they said it would be almost $6k for everything which I definitely could not afford. That's almost as much as the car is worth. I ended up talking to my therapist about it, she suggested that I wait it out with patience and grace, and I'm really so happy that I did. It's running even better than it was before.

My boyfriend is on the autism spectrum. He likes to collect project cars and motorcycles, and often lets them sit for a very long period of time before fixing them. His own commuter car has been sitting for over two years now. The fact he fixed mine in less than a year is actually a big feat for him. He works 12 hour overnight shifts fixing things, and then he comes home from work and fixes things around the house all day on his days off. He's definitely not lazy, just a perfectionist that gets a bit overwhelmed. And I've come to realize, this is a "flaw" I needed to accept in our relationship. I'm not perfect either and I know there are things I do that bother him, too. If I need something fixed faster next time, I know to either do it myself or pay a shop. But I know the wait was worth it, it is WAY more reliable compared to work done at a normal shop.

I'm happy, he's happy, all is right in the world. And I got to do a celebratory track day! The car did great and I pulled some really fast lap times!

Homemade banana bread for dinner because why not?

Update: He fixed it!
