Need new home urgently. Harley in Columbus, Oh. Euthanasia 8/19/26

TLDR: Need to rehome adult coonhound/lab. Active dog. NO KIDS.

We rescued our sweet, hyper, fun, big goofball years before kids were ever on our mind. He is a cute mutt mix and our best guess is some kind of coonhound/lab. He acts like a puppy and is a perfect companion for walks, playing fetch, and being active. He is house trained and crate trained and lives inside with us.

We have moved into the next stage of our marriage and now have a toddler and another baby on the way. Unexpectedly, our doggo has not adjusted and has progressively been losing patience with the small human addition in the household.

Unfortunately, the dog was on the couch and the toddler pulled herself standing using the couch in the dogs space. Doggo felt scared and nipped the toddler. BABY IS SAFE but this was a scary wake up call. There was minor scrapes and scratched but things could have been so much worse.

For the safety of our family and at no fault of the doggo, we need to rehome him. We have spent years loving this dog and this has been the most difficult decision of our lives with every avenue and alternative explored... But we cannot risk the physical wellbeing of our children or the mental health and stress of the doggo.

We have consulted a vet, had a consultation with a dog trainer, and contacted every rescue within a 6 hour drive and no one is willing to help or take on our dog. All professionals have advised rehoming for our kids safety and the dogs happiness. We have posted on AdoptAPet and reached out to every friend and family member. We are out of options and have come to the devestatingly heartbreaking decision that euthanasia may be the only option.

So here I am crying my eyes out while writing this looking for ANYONE that can take our dog. He is active and simply cannot be around children of any age. We have received rejections for literally dozen

s of shelters and rescues.0

We are willing to help with transport or make a monetary donation to a rescue or individual. We are located in Columbus, OH but are willing to drive anywhere if it means getting him a new home.

We have been attempting to rehome for 2 months. Please withold your judgement. This has been the most difficult decision of our lives and a position we never thought we would be in.
