How are people making "forever homes" work with 3 bedrooms, 2 kids and some WFH?

Due to my age, I know a few people currently buying or recently moved to their "forever" (or at least long term) family home and most are 3 beds.

Looking at the market ourselves (areas of London, appreciate situation is probably different more suburban/rural) there are many more 3 bed options. That's the case even if we bump up our budget a ton - many lovely 3 beds with sensible layouts, bathrooms etc. for all budgets, but the four+ beds are rare, odd, and often obviously carved up 3 beds with two box rooms lol. The four beds become plentiful at the level of large detached houses with gardens only.

A couple where both work from home at least some of the time, and have kids, how does that work? When kids are little they could share (although some kids would be quite miserable doing so) but eventually they do grow. With the parents and 2 kids occupying the bedrooms, how does 2 desk wfh work?

I guess either WFH in the main bedroom (the worst) or occupying the reception room? Best case scenario would be to hope for a separate dining room or some kind of hallway/stairwell nook that could be repurposed towards wfh rooms?

If you are currently in this situation, or hunting for a 3 bedroom place yourself, i'd love to hear from you.
