Hello, I’m hoping to get help with the body language here. I’ve had a cat in the past, but not two, and my partner and I got two kittens recently. The one with one white ear (Mitzie, closest to the camera) is the leader fs, the one with two dark ears (Margot) isn’t. So I recorded them playing last night thinking how cute it is, when Margot John Cena’d Mitzie and I was like, “oh, okay,” but they’re cats and they looked fine, and then she pinned her ears back and bowed and rolled over which I know is a sign of submission. But is that because she likely didn’t mean to play that rough or is she scared of Mitzie? What isn’t recorded is Margot runs away, and Mitzie kinda stalks her from under the bed and then pounces on her and they continue to play. I’m also not sure if Margot is just tired of playing here and was running away and if maybe I should have intervened and separated them for a little bit.

And being that this is our first pet together (my partner and I’s) and they’re both kittens, I’m also trying to make sure that they have their space, so if it’s recommended to separate them each and give them their own separate space for a little bit at a time, we can find ways to do that. It’ll be a little difficult this week because we’re dog sitting. Right now they’re in our guest room which seems plenty big for them, and they have all of the toys and food and water they can ask for; I check in on them every 15-30 minutes to make sure they’re okay. I just want to make sure we aren’t forcing them into something they may not always be comfortable with.

All advice is appreciated, thank y’all in advance!
