Can I Start A Second Game on Switch 2 With Scarlet Virtual Game Card?

I just got a switch 2 and I migrated my switch 1's virtual Pokemon Scarlet game card from my original switch to the new switch 2. Both systems are signed into the same Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack account. I did not choose any options to sync data between the two systems aside from loading two virtual game cards.

When I started up Scarlet on the Switch 2, it gave me the beginnings of an entire new game. I transferred the virtual game card back to the old system, and it loaded my existing game file.

Can I do both? I want to keep the save file I have, but I would love to start a new game at the same time with online access and keeping them on different systems is no issue for me.

Has anyone done this, or will switching the virtual game card back and forth with different save files on each system cause an issue?
