S center with non-Sony receiver

I know over the years there have been some people who’ve managed to get it to work by soldering a TRRS cable with some power to one of the poles. I’ve even seen mention of using the a80j USB port for the power. I want to attempt it.

Is anyone doing this in 2026? Any new developments? Does it work well?
