What are your ADHD superpowers and what are you doing to exploit it?
I'm saddened reading a lot of the posts about problems we face or have gone through so I though I would lighten things up a bit. What can you do that others around you can't and what are you doing to exploit these "powers"? Brag as much as you want!
I'll start...
TL;DR : Fix anything in car or home, hyperfocused allows me to learn any new programming language, I can "see" and develop sound processes which involves people and technology, love to re-imagine apps/software for mobile.
I can pretty much fix anything. I can fix plumbing, electrical and any sort of mechanical problem with my house and my car. I've built landscaping retaining walls (straight as an arrow), poured concrete side walks (level and beautiful), replaced water heaters, put in canned lights, ceiling fans, put in extra outlets in rooms, fixed doors/windows, painted, drywalled/spackled, replaced fixtures/toilets, put in flooring. Putting something together (Ikea furniture) even with bad instructions is mere childs play to me. I've replaced sensors in my car, replaced brake rotors/pads, oil changes, suspension components, ball joints, differential fluid, water pumps, thermostats, installed lift kits and anything that doesn't require a hoist, special expensive tools or breaking down the engine block. I save a ton of money on repairs (when I get around to it that is LOL).
I'm also hyperfocused so I can accomplish anything once it gets into my head. I can learn a new programming language just because I want to develop a specific app or functionality. The code may not be pretty but it will work. I am formally schooled in Management of Information System (no programming classes that would count as "real" programming classes). I typically finish these projects easily.
I am excellent at figuring out processes and then fixing/improving them especially if they deal with various groups and platforms or systems (e.g. how to integrate software developers groups from around the world). This is very helpful at work as I can easily build in quality, expansion, redundancy and reliability and think of things that will impact the process several years down the line.
I love re-imagining concepts/digital products so they work in the mobile device/space. Things like, what would the next facebook look like (example only but along these lines)? I love thinking about those types of things and mocking it up. I cannot turn it off once a notion gets into my head. I would love getting a job doing this.
