Is there a way to easily re-spec without the initial grind?

I'm pretty high level but I've put all my spec points in the technology branch. After playing for a decade or so I'm questioning this class as its not much fun to play.

I think I'd prefer a class with more of a crafting based skill set but I'm not sure I can face the early level grinding. Plus the reduction in gold would be pretty difficult to justify.

Any advice, or should I just buckle down and prepare for an unfulfilling endgame?

Multi-class! If you can, keep using your tech skills to acquire in-game currency to meet your characters' needs, and spend some of your time building up your crafting tree.

Sure, early level grinding's tough, but if you want to do it, go for it! There's only one play-through!

Who says you cant combine crafting and tech skills? I find it to be very fulfilling as a stat path and it provides more than enough gold to develop other skills as well. My avatar just built a leisure tower to play additional games in game.

Technology is a great synergistic skill. If youre looking to craft or work with your hands try it as a hobby first. I started my class off in a different skill tree and was stuck grinding in the office stage. I got tired of it and I started messing around in a few different places and now im a mechanic class and am pretty happy. It took a little of my characters gold stash but now im making mid $20's per hour of grinding. Not great but its pointless to grind if you cant enjoy the game.

Woodworking is what I plan to make my next secondary skill. Not to make gold but mostly to relax. Give me a shout if you want someone to toss career ideas with.

I know the prototypical tech mage has BOTH class and vocations firmly in that corner, but you don't have to be stuck on that build. My build is a tech mage but with non-tech hobbies! Also, you might be able to promote into advanced classes that behave different than the base one. Architect and Project Manager are two advanced classes I can promote into, but which behave different than Developer! If you want more hands-on work instead of being at a computer all day, there are options.

There's no way to skip the initial grinding when learning a new skill, it's just part of the game.

You gotta grind when you aren't clanning with your tech spec. Then slowly let go of that tech spec as your grinding starts to pay off.

You can complete adult-education quest lines. Some quests can even be completed during evening/night/weekend hours, so you can still make gold during day-hours by grinding you day-job quest line.
