A smartphone is considered to be the greatest tool for a flipper. Can we start a collection of apps/websites that every user should have/use?
I am not sure of them all so I am sure I am missing some but I will start. For reference, I am using an Sprint LG Optimus G (Android 4.2) on Ting network. Your mileage may vary.
Profit Bandit:
-
Useful for FBA Profits and Retail Arbitrage. Nice App.
-
$15 cost. Must be a Pro Merchant with Amazon to access AWS (basically the database) since Amazon changed the requirements. It seems to be hit and miss for some people though.
-
You do not need pro account. Just email the team and everything works fine. I did and dont quite sell 40 items to make it work. (from u/NewbieMcRedditson). Note: He canceled his Pro Merch account so we can't be sure if that had something to do with access being granted. There will be further testing and this will be updated accordingly.
eBay Mobile/App:
-
Be sure to search by Completed listings/Sold for the best results. mange your listings remotely as well.
-
Watch out for completed listing not being accurate on the mobile app. Use the full site in your phone browser to get the most accurate data. (from u/NewbieMcRedditson)
-
Ebay app-is limited and inaccurate in showing all sold items making it worthless. You buy something for $10 because you see on the ebay app it has sold for $40-50 you get home and see a bunch have sold for $20 as well. Bookmark the ebay page on your web browser and use that. (from u/sords)
-
The scanner and voice input is very useful. The barcode scanner is one of the fastest I have seen.
Amazon App/Amazon Price Check app:
-
Gives you quick access to the Amazon inventory.
-
Price Check app includes options to scan a barcode, snap a pic or search by voice.
-
Includes calculators for discount, markup, profit margin and general percent calculation. Free app.
-
Advanced mode allows you to plug in any numbers to figure out the percentage. For example: X% of Y is Z or X is Y% of Z. You can type in the numbers into 2 out of 3 of the choices and the app will calculate the answer for you.
-
I like this version because of the photo wall options (see ads in a Google images-type format) and its clean design.
-
Includes options to Save Search and set-up Notifiers based on your search criteria.
Decluttr:
-
Buys your CD/DVD media from you with a minimum of at least $0.50 a disc. Pays for shipping as well.
-
You need barcodes, art work and good condition CD so be wary. (from u/NewbieMcRedditson)
-
App includes a scanner and ability to see final value before checking out.
Book Scouter:
- Best app to look up book prices. (from u/sords)
Red Laser:
- Bar code scanner, gives you a general idea of prices on some things. (from u/sords)
Best Route:
- Navigation tool. People use the app "Yard Sale Treasure Map" which compiles yard sales off of sites like craigslist, but i find it inaccurate. so I have a few sources for finding yard sales, CL and a couple local websites. I manually enter the address of each address into Best Route. This could be used for thrift store address too. Would like a better alternative as this requires work so if you have a better app for creating routes let me know. (from u/sords)
-
Used to have an app but doesn't longer. (from u/sords)
-
I just used the website to search GTA5 in my area. Provided average ebay listing prices and average CL prices in area. Also includes percentage of listings sold. Seems useful.
-
I just checked checkaflip.com and it seems that the CL part of the site is down due to a Cease and Desist letter from CL.
-
For checking if that lot of video games on craigslist is worth flipping or not. Also works for books and dvds. (from u/gfanonn)
-
Fastest way of looking up video game values but not very accurate. Values on Priceaz tend to be lower, and while it's good to be conservative when estimating prices, checkout pricecharting.com as well. (from u/Alex-Gopson)
Flow App powered by Amazon:
- Necessary for anyone who normally goes through DVDs or books. (from u/evky0901)
- In depth sales ranks and prices for Amazon. Charts for rank and price through products lifetime. (from u/EyeSee4)
- Like CCC but checks other stores besides Amazon. It comes with a chrome extension as well (from u/sords)
- More accurate values compared to priceaz.me. (from u/Alex-Gopson)
CLEER Chrome Extension (Completed Listings on eBay for Resellers):
- When you highlight any text on any page, you can right-click and hit "Completed eBay Listings: <highlighted text>" and it opens you right up to the ebay completed listings page. (from u/rayz321)
-
I use the gsalr and Thrift Buddy apps to locate garage, estate and thrift stores in my area. Great for getting on-the-fly directions to the next sale. (from u/sarcaster632)
-
Gsalr also has an iPhone app. I do not see an app for either gsalr or Thrift Buddy on Android.
Google Drive:
-
I manage all my flipping through there and track everything from shipping charged/cost to payment status and feedback. With a little bit of setup, you can customize a spreadsheet to make your flipping business that much freer from hassle. (from u/gigamosh57)
-
The template I use is linked HERE. The spreadsheet I use to manage my flipping has evolved a bit over time, but here is a template version of the current incarnation. I like Google Docs a lot for this kind of work since it is free and can be synced and updated on any smart-ish device. (from u/gigamosh57)
-
Created by u/StopListing.
-
Haven't personally used the app so I can't comment.
Please feel free to pitch in.
EDIT: I will added the list with information provided from other users below. Maybe this can be added to the sidebar afterwards.
