[Build Ready][Revised] $400 Gaming/All-Purpose Desktop

USD$

Hey guys, so after taking advice from a few people about my last proposed build, I decided to change my setup to include a decent GPU and processor. Leaning towards the i3-4310 instead of the FX-6300 or A10-6800 because of better single-thread performance and it's only $100 at my Microcenter up the road.

I have a nice big 23" monitor in mind that I didn't include, and I have a copy of Windows 7. Does it look like I missed anything? Any suggestions/swaps?

Looks pretty good for a budget build. Not sure I see anything worth changing. Well, only thing I can think of, check microcenter for a mobo/CPU combo deal and you might be able to slightly upgrade either/or.

I'm looking at their flyer I got in the mail and I don't see any combos with the 4130, it's somewhat hard to interpret the bundles though. I'll ask in-person when I go to pick up the stuff later this week. They do have an i3-4340/MSIZ87-G41 bundle for $185 but that's $40 more than what I have now.

Micro Center Mobo/CPU Deals

All of the motherboards on the right side can be bundled with the i3-4340. The red price column is after instant and mail-in rebates but before the bundle rebate, which is $30 for most of the motherboards.

If you get the i3-4340 and the Gigabyte GA-H81M-H (already on your list) it will be $154.98 before tax and not counting the $10 mail-in rebate. Depending on taxes where you are it will only be a couple dollars more than the i3-4130 and GA-H81M-H that you have listed now.

Oh wow, thanks man! Definitely glad I ran this by r/buildapc before buying components, that bundle is like getting the 4340 for the same price of the 4130.

yea just checked their website and there doesn't seem to be anything amazing right now. I've seen some pretty awesome bundles in the past though. I, of course, don't live near a microcenter so I don't track it much. Good luck on your build. Looks like you've done a good job planning.

You can get a better deal if you buy both your cpu and motherboard from microcenter as a package. If you get the 4340 from there you can take advantage of the deal.

I am getting an FX 6300 from Microcenter because it is cheaper than a 4340 including the motherboard.

I would also suggest trying to get them or BestBuy to pricematch the recent Fry's deal for an i5 4430 for 99 dollars.

This looks great. Pretty much a perfect build for that budget.

Thanks for the input!

Seems pretty good for the price but depending on your gaming habits and what games are coming out in the near future, you find yourself wanting an upgrade in about a year.

I would not trust getting a board that has no reviews. Get this instead http://pcpartpicker.com/part/msi-motherboard-h81mp33. And get the Seagate 1tb drive, it's better.
