So my computer shut down playing BL2 a little while ago, wouldn't turn back on, and I ended up reseating the CPU fan cable on the mobo. Decided to run prime95 for awhile to see if it was shutting down due to high temps, and after running for maybe 15 minutes it was showing a temp of around 70C for the CPU and 88-90 for Core0. I have an i3-4340 with stock fan and 90C seems unreasonably high. Is this something I should be worried about or is the CPU temp the one that I should be concerned with?

I have a Crucial M4-CT256M4SSD2 solid state drive in my laptop (Elitebook 8460p) that essentially freezes if the computer is left on for an hour. I bought it from a guy via Craigslist last June and has been working fine until the beginning of December, when the lockups/freezes started happening. I've researched and found the issue to be due a bug in the hard drive firmware, a "5000 hour" bug or something along those lines.

My firmware version is 0009 and I need to update to a newer version, but when I try to do so using an executable or a .iso file on a pen drive I get a message that says "ATA security enabled, please remove/enter password first", or something similar.

So my question is

Hey guys, so after taking advice from a few people about my last proposed build, I decided to change my setup to include a decent GPU and processor. Leaning towards the i3-4310 instead of the FX-6300 or A10-6800 because of better single-thread performance and it's only $100 at my Microcenter up the road.

I have a nice big 23" monitor in mind that I didn't include, and I have a copy of Windows 7. Does it look like I missed anything? Any suggestions/swaps?

I have an elitebook 8460p running Windows 7 home premium, 8 gb ram, intel core i5-2520M with a Crucial M4 256gb SSD. Starting in December, every time I would leave the laptop on/open for about an hour it would freeze and not allow me to even open the task manager, then blue screen, giving me a KERNAL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR.

I have looked around online using the information from the BSOD report and cannot pinpoint the cause of this issue. SMARTcheck on the SSD shows it's fine, no bad sectors or anything. Ran all diagnostics from BIOS: memory, processor, hard drive, everything seems to be fine.

But even if I leave it running on the diagnostics screen from the BIOS it will still freeze and refus

Hey guys, this is my first prospective build. It's mostly a home computer for surfing the web and doing some light gaming (CoD, Deus Ex, Bioshock, Minecraft, etc.) that can also handle some MATLAB programs or big SolidWorks assemblies if necessary. Ideally I'd like to spend around $400, or $475 with a decent-sized monitor. Price is somewhat flexible though. I live near a Microcenter and they have what seems like a decent deal going on right now: $40 off a motherboard with purchase of a processor. The link for the qualifying items is here http://www.microcenter.com/site/products/amd_bundles.aspx I'm definitely eyeing the A10-6800K, since it seems like a fairly good balance of price and proc
