Works on sale items.

Just be aware there is duty fees shipped to the US. Paid $50 bucks for a $220 item.

Not always/really. It's related to the good that you're buying (i.e. If you buy a $400 pair of boots you may not get hit with duties, but if you buy a $400 t-shirt, you will) as well as a bit of luck (sometimes you won't get charged when you should).

I've bought from End twice, neither of which was I hit with Duties. First was a $165 sweater by Folk, and the second was a $260 pair of boots. As long as you don't cross a certain threshold of cost for a certain type of good, you won't be charged any duty.

If you use this duty calculator, you'll see that my sweater ($165) doesn't qualify for any duty fees, whereas your SNS Herning sweater ($220) qualifies for $35 in fees, and the extra $13 is likely billed to you by FedEx as "brokerage fees," which is basically shipping and handling/interest.

I never figured out how duty fees worked. I've ordered from End before and didn't pay any fees, but I know that other people have.

Here's my quick explanation.

Could you explain how that works? Looking to grab a pair of NB kicks but not sure how much extra ill be paying

1
automaticfantastic•

Here you go.

But basically, it's a crapshoot. Sometimes you get hit with an extra fee, sometimes you don't. It's based on the declared price of the good, so be prepared to pay something like an extra 30%, worst case scenario.

duty fees are charged separately and you won't know how much you're getting charged until you get the bill. It's really a crapshoot.

So it's not really a deal once you have to pay 60 bucks on top for those common projects at $288.

I ordered a SNS piece for $220 shipped to the US and had to pay Fedex a $48 fee a few weeks later.

ilike13acon•

yup i paid $50 (plus $10 fedex handling fees) for a wtaps tee shirt... i bought from their EU store store because I had 50 pounds store credit which didnt seem to appear on their american store. their EU store is more expensive than their american store even after the 20% deduction. then when they shipped, they still put the EU price without the deduction :/

What if you pay with a visa gift card with only the exact amount? I mean it's an extra 5 bucks every time but I think you would be safe from tacked on charges.

i dont understand

1
veritableill•

If the cost of an item plus shipping is 140$ And I go to rite aid and buy a visa gift card with 140$ on it how will I get an extra charge? Or am I confuse?

Puts Common Projects at $287 for anyone interested in picking them up.

Thanks! Finally pulled the trigger on the black Buttero Tanino mids i've been wanting for years. My Vans OTW Stovepipes are officially dead, so these are an upscale replacement.

I'm thinking about getting the Tanino lows, they look super fresh. Nice change of pace from the CPs too.

Barbour Commander is really cheap if you are interested.

Even factoring in customs fees and the international fee, it should be around $500.

3
TiLun•

Been eyeing the Commander for a while and END definitely seems like the cheapest place. Do you have it by any chance? Regardless, what are your opinions on it?

1
homemade_mayo•

I opted for the Tokito version. I've worn the Commander at Barbour a couple times. I really like it.

It's much slimmer than the Bedale or Beaufort which I liked a lot. The armholes are also much higher. It's made of the same waxed cotton that those jackets are made out of so I'm comfortable with longevity. I liked the way it looked as well, almost like a blazer with the top few buttons unbuttoned. I'm also a big fan of the color of the buttons.

Note that there is leather on the collar and that the same material on the shoulders is also on the elbow to the wrist. Here is a review from someone who got it:

http://threads.dappered.com/showthread.php/12681-REVIEW-Barbour-Dept-B-Commander-Jacket

Use the measurements on END rather than going by your regular size because they are pretty much exact. At $725 from JCrew I wouldn't buy it, but at less than $500 I probably would. I'm actually debating the Navy one right now.

4
TiLun•

Yeah the slim fit is what got me.

I tried looking for measurements everywhere but some were really inconsistent. Thanks for letting me know the END measurements are exact.

I couldn't believe it's at $500 right now, I've barely seen it at £500 on UK retailers and $750 at JCrew seems a little much. Definitely picking this up.

1
homemade_mayo•

It's slim fit relative to their other offerings which is what I think trips up people.

If you are maybe a M-L or a S-M you might have to size up, but otherwise you should be okay. Same goes for if you want to layer excessively

2
brodaddy•

What's the difference between the normal commander and the Tokito version?

1
homemade_mayo•

Tokito has a hood which was a big deal for me. It also has a protective flap. Small differences include the "Barbour" on the left pocket. See here:

2
squantoOP•

I do, pull the trigger, especially at this price, go olive too, the navy is kind of bland

It is objectively true to size, if you're read otherwise elsewhere, disregard it. It fits almost exactly like a sportcoat, but with a tiny bit little more room for another layer

edit: i had that buttoned wrong, the jacket fits perfect. I am almost 6 feet and 175, musculular build, i got a medium

3
TiLun•

All right thanks man. Really appreciate the fit pic, you rock it. That's the fit I was going for. Olive is definitely the way to go.

I'm 5'10 and 220 with a slightly muscular 46' chest so I wasn't sure to go for XL or XXL. I've read that sizing was really slim/tight for big builds so I'm definitely going for XXL.

1
brodaddy•

Damn it, I just bought a Bedale and now I'm debating whether to return it and buy one of these

1
homemade_mayo•

Eh they're a lot different to be honest.

I have a Bedale and I use it when I want to layer underneath as well as for semi-formal events. I think the commander is more casual.

It's also much tighter and more of a sport coat than a jacket.

Also the commander from End. doesn't offer a hood but the Bedale has the option to add a hood.

Does anyone know how often END has these sort of code coupons? Are they seasonal?

1
MangoHi_Chew•

It's my understanding that this kind of sale doesn't come up particularly often. I think this is the first time I've seen a coupon that works on some of the better known brands (Common Projects, Barbour, etc.) Don't take my word for it though. There's definitely someone out there that will know for sure, but that's just my two cents.

2
hbaas•

Yeah, I'm pretty sure these 20% off sales are seasonal. There was one last winter, and last fall.

Anyone know if there are duties shipping to Canada?

1
ilike13acon•

$50 duties and $10 handling fee from fedex for a wtaps tee to canada. found out you can avoid handling fees from fedex if you open an account with them

1
nakedsnake27•

Can you give some more info on what kind of account you need? This could save me tons down the road haha

1
ilike13acon•

i think youre just supposed to call and ask to open a account

I think, Haberdash has some newly discounted NB today too. I'd post like but I'm on my phone
