Do you mean Avon or D'angelo? D had prior arrests, and took the full weight of the possession +intent to distribute charge for the package he picked up from NY when they stopped him on the highway back to Baltimore.
I meant Avon. On the final episode of Season 1 there was some sort of meeting of lawyers and it was mentioned that Avon will do up to 3 years. Pearlman said it was not acceptable and Levy mentioned if they were willing to make a deal. At season 2 we learned Avon is doing 7 years so I was wondering what proffer made it so.
The meeting is at 49 minutes of episode 13.
Just re-watched the scene. Ilene and Rhonda lay out they have more than just talk, they have seized money, a lot of dope on the table, and a lot of violence.
Levy says all of which stops short of Avon.
Daniels says all except the NJ (highway package) bust, "That one he eats."
Levy ponders maybe Avon pleads to one count of attempted possession and does maybe 3-4 years. Maybe Avon can arrange everyone they (the police) have on tape (the wire) to follow that lead. He sets up the 5 year plea bargains for the ones caught who have no prior felony convictions. Ten years for those with one prior felony conviction, 15 for 2 or more felony convictions.
They go on to detail Wee-Bay's charges and his own lawyer bargains. They return to Levy telling them they can seize the strip club, cars, money, anything they can link to the drug trafficking, and any cash they have already seized. Rhonda balks saying they leave the real estate and Stringer "stays on the street with his hand on the throne." Levy says to charge Stringer if they have anything which he knows has nothing on the wire to implicate him.
(Scene cuts to court)
She goes on to explain the circumstances of the NJ traffic stop of D'Angelo and the package, and how it was all under the direction of Avon.
