I just searched for this subreddit because I just NEED to talk about it. There's only been 7 episodes and I'm convinced that this will be one of the best show I'll ever, ever, watch. And I truly mean that.
My suggestion is to go over to the AV Club website and search for the rectify reviews. The comments section has a lot more people than this subreddit and the reviews are very well done.
I'm quite hooked as well. It makes me really feel for Daniel and think about his situation. The girl that offered herself was so believable to me. And tonight, the look on Hanna's moms face really got to me.
I just posted about the show in r/television because I needed to talk about it too, and someone directed me here, thank goodness. I thought it might be too much of a niche show for a sub, and I don't think I was on reddit for the first season.
I don't normally cry for a TV show but Rectify does it to me. I absolutely love Daniel and his mom and sister.

That scene with Teddy in the hospital was incredibly intense.
The malice was so palpable. I wonder if Teddy can be redeemed as a character at all at this point.
Thankfully this season is a little longer (10 episodes, to the first season's 6). I just pray it doesn't become too overly formulaic by having the Sheriff's case drag on through the entirety of the season.
After what Daniel's mother said to Tawney I thought they might try to redeem him but after that scene I think he's headed for darker ends.
Oh, my, I thought he was going to break the head of the ceramic guy. I think he still can be redeemed, though, we'll see. He's def not the worst character on the show.
Who is this Melvin guy with the turtle?
He was a friend of Daniel's when they were kids. Daniel would feed Melvin's pet turtles when his family went out of town.
He was the landlord of Amantha's apartment, the one who said he never believed Daniel did it.
Melvin was in an episode last season.
At first, it was difficult for me to gauge the quality of this premiere relative to the first season, since there was so little of Daniel (understandably). But for the most part, I think the supporting characters held up the episode pretty well without him. I hope we see more of Melvin and Trey and Bobby Dean than we did last season; I get the sense that there's a lot more to those characters that we haven't seen yet.
Throughout this episode, and especially in the few Daniel scenes, his voicemail to Tawney in "Jacob's Ladder" kept replaying in my head: I'm going away for a while. To get better, or...different. I'm really looking forward to seeing post-coma Daniel and how that experience has changed him.
Also, I smiled every time they showed one of the recurring objects from season 1: the statue, the coffeepot, Ted's wacky waving inflatable arm-flailing tube man, the ceramic mechanic. No monkey bread thus far, but I'll hold out hope.
How great was the face Daniel made when that dude was blowing his load?
I like how they removed the sound, really added to the tension of the moment

OnDemand is fast and easy to use, especially as it already has closed captions , reliable HD and helps with ratings .Netflix has spoiled me enough.

Am I the only one who thinks Melvin and the deputy sheriff are kinda suspicious? Deputy knew about the masks and doesn't seem all too keen on the investigation. Melvin seems a little bit too pure.
I thought the deputy bringing up masks was him proving he has good intentions, that he'll follow Sheriff Carl's lead and support him if they're gonna go down that road and become hated by the town. He's just reluctant because there will be backlash
Who knows though, we'll see. I just don't get why the deputy would be helping with the investigation if he was one of the perpetrators. Bringing up the masks is what made Carl realize he needed the boy's eyewitness testimony, he was just going to sweat them out with lies since he already knows who did it before that.
I don't know, I think Melvin is just odd and has a crush on Amantha. However, I wouldn't trust the deputy farther than I could throw him.
The deputy is giving the sheriff every chance to drop it and keep his job. A nice guy to have around, but he's not making me like any of the townsfolk any more.

The last scene was amazing. Listening to Kerwin explain how his having hope that Daniel would get out one day had given him something to live for almost brought me to tears. I have emotionally connected to this series unlike any other tv show I can think of. The writing and acting is just amazing.
I teard up too. Man I love this show.
I've never teared up so quickly into a show. It only took me 7 episodes to get so emotionally involved with Rectify that it brought me to tears. This show is absolutely incredible.

I was sitting on my couch bawling after that season 1 end. Bawling.
