Problems with RGP popping out?

I have worn my RGP for 3 years in my left eye only. Right eye is fine. Fit and comfort have never really been an issue.

Only problem I am having occasionally is that if I blink wrong or twitch my eye the wrong way, the RGP will just pop out! Anyone ever have this issue? I have discussed with my doctor, he says that my scar tissue keeps me from getting a perfect fit.

The damn thing pops out at the most inopportune times and I have had to buy a few replacements over the years. Just frustrated and trying to figure out alternatives.

You might want to try a hybrid lens with a RGP lens in the middle and a soft skirt on the outside.

RGPs will always pop out. You have to remember how it sits on the cornea - the bottom will always have a gap that the lower eye lid will catch on frequently.

There are other lens designs that help fix this issue (along with increasing comfort), such as hybrid RGP (RGPs with a soft "skirt" along the edges) and scleral lenses.

As others have said, there are other lens designs that you can use.

In the short term, you could try piggy-backing the lens over a soft-lens. It will be a bit more effort each morning to put the lens in, but the soft lens will effectively smooth out the surface and make it far easier for the RGP to stick. I've found it also helps with the irritations you get from scarring or dry eyes.
