My weekend project - sanding, sanding, and more sanding...
Even though it probably doesn't count as real woodworking, it's the closest I've come this summer.
I spent all day Saturday prepping and then sanding my bedroom floor to start refinishing it. I've never done so much sanding. So much dust...
When we moved in it had a horrible pink carpet with a bunch of stains (not horrible, but...). Now that it's going to be a nursery, we finally started cleaning it up. We removed the carpet, and then spent last weekend stripping/cleaning the glue and crap off the floor. This weekend was sanding time. So much sanding. Thankfully my buddy and his dad came over with the big floor sander to take care of business. But there was still plenty of hand sanding around the edges.
I have no pictures, because I didn't wan't to remember that horrible pink mess. But after all that work, it looks SO much better. I've only put one coat of finish on thus far, so it's going to extend into my week, but hopefully that won't be too bad. Maybe I'll dig up an old picture, I'm sure we have one.
Somewhat unrelated, my mother-in-law suggested just putting carpet back over the crappy floor versus cleaning it up. No. Absolutely not.

Next time go to home depot or lowes and rent their edging floor sander. It works great and severely cuts down on the time it would take with a hand sander.
Funny you say that. None of the big stores had rentals in my area. I later found several smaller stores (that I wasn't previously aware of) that had rentals.
Thankfully my buddy's uncle has a big floor sander, so we got away without rentals. Just had to get the sandpaper. It wasn't too bad in the grand scheme of things.
I'm just more disappointed that my floor is the only thing I've gotten to work on lately. I have to build another kiddie stool over the winter for my soon-to-be-born daughter. Some proper woodworking will make things right with the world.
I feel you on refinishing floors. I refinished the ones in our apartment before we moved in. It was 350sqft of floors in the living and dining rooms. Took us 3 days with poly. I had a friend help me because I had never done it before. He rushed it a bit. I'd love to go back knowing what I know now and do it all myself. They would've turned out so much nicer.
I've never done it, but my buddy did. He refinished most of his house (probably 900ish square feet, maybe a bit more). He's gotten better as he went, since he did most of the floor at once, then did bedrooms separately. It was nice to have him and his dad around to tell me what's going on. I had no clue.
I threw down the second coat of poly this morning, hopefully I can put a third on tonight and call it done. Then trim, and finally a completed nursery. My wife will be VERY happy.
