Withdrawing from Kratom FST - Day 4 & Miserable

Hello fellow travelers on the dark side of kratom. I started out using basic Bali powder recreationally about 2 1/2 years ago. At first I was very responsible but eventually I was using close to every day.

In order to lessen the impact on my system I decided to try the Full Spectrum Tincture. It was interesting because I felt from it things I had only felt from true opiates and it was strong. A little went a long way at first. Tolerance shot up like a rocket. I knew I had to quit this stuff, but I was honestly scared.

Anyhow, I decided to quit cold turkey when I had some time away from my job. I was shocked by how uncomfortable it was for me. I have been through CT from pharmaceutical opiates. I thought those were rough. They were a walk in the park compared to this. Shakes, shits, chills, insomnia, RLS, gnawing pain all over and on. I'm starting day 4 and things have gotten a bit better in that I can at least do more than writhe around on the sofa wishing I was dead.

Anyhow, just wanted to share my experience. Hopefully I will emerge from this nightmare soon. Good luck to all the others attempting to quit.

Thanks. I can tell you this is a very different animal than regular Bali. Not that that can't get horrendous if you are taking huge amounts xdaily, I'm sure. FST is seriously strong stuff. I would not recommend it to anyone who doesn't have the restraint of a monk. I wish I had never tried it.

Lanterna99Day 5•

I'm actually detoxing (my second attempt) right now from a fairly bad FST habit. Day 5 for me.

How long were you on the FST, how frequently and how much (in ml) were you dosing?

To be honest my detox hasn't been that bad either time. My last run before I quit this time was 7 days straight at 3-4ml per day. For 3 weeks prior to that I was able to get away with every-other-day dosing of 3-4ml.

I had been on kratom in general for 2 1/2 years, the FST has been the last 8 months. I use approximately 3 mls a day (judging by how fast I go through bottles). I do tend to be a bit of a lightweight. In the last few months I would have to wake myself about an hour before I needed to so I could fix then go back to sleep - and not wake up in WD. This was when I realized I needed to do something.

3ml is a lot in one day. When I first started I had almost no experience with any opiate/opioid compounds and I stupidly went straight to FST. When I first started, a dose of .5ml would get me high as a kite. I would take it at 5:00pm and it would last all night, I would sleep like a baby, then have the "afterglow" feeling all throughout the next day.

I was disciplined enough to never take it more than twice per week, with at least 2 days in between doses, and never more than the one single daily dose at 5:00pm. I was able to pull this off for almost a year and a half without having any physical withdrawals really, but even at only 2 doses per week my tolerance went up super-fast.

I ended up breaking my own rules a few months ago and started to do 2-days in a row, or every other day dosing, and that is when the withdrawals caught up with me and I realized I was starting to get dope-sick on my off days.

Had my first mini-screw up today around 2 with some basic powdered Bali. Strangely I haven't had any issues the rest of the day. I'm kind of hoping I was about ready to end the worst of my withdrawals, since I can't imagine 1.5 grams of PC could hold FST WD off for about 7 hours now. That being said, I'm so scared I will wake up tomorrow sick as a dog again.

The uncertainty of withdrawal, the belief that you'll never get back to "normal", really has to be one of its worst aspects. Good luck to all of you out there fighting your fights.

How are you feeling today after your relapse?

Know that you can get through this. It is definitely going to be a fight, but one that is well worth the effort. After the physical WDs begin to subside, the mental battle sets in. But, with each day of choosing not to consume K, you become stronger.

I am with you in this fight and am wishing you the best.

Thanks for your concern, this sub is great.

Woke up with a start of severe anxiety and haven't felt good today. Not as bad as day 2 or 3 but I definitely feel like I have set myself back with my extremely idiotic relapse yesterday. Mainly getting chills, body aches, and depression.

I know I have to do this, as painful as it is. The FST was costing too much and I am convinced it was starting to have severe health effects on me, as well. The magic is long gone I want out.

Hang in there. I am just about to take off to a therapy session with an addiction counselor. I decided that I needed to do this for myself when I realized that I was having troubling kicking on my own and that the root of my present and past substance abuse problems is depression. Now I am facing the issues that cause me to turn to substances.

A couple of weeks ago, my therapist had me make some mandalas. I found making art to be a helpful respite from the feeling of wanting to crawl out of my skin while going through the WDs and now to help with the depression. Not a magic fix by any means, but a healthy coping mechanism. I hope you find some healthy things that help bring you relief, too.

I will be checking back in on you. Stay strong.

"The magic is long gone". There is your mantra. Use it whenever you start to feel that urge, or when your mind starts playing the self-rationalization game. There will always be a reason to re-order. To celebrate something positive...to cope with something negative...to relieve boredom...to reward yourself for something. You'll most likely deal with those for quite some time, but you know the truth of the matter. The magic is long gone. So now it's time to try something else to focus your energy on. Fitness, hobbies, work, etc. I found that using kratom was a way for me to give myself excuses to not have to apply myself to life in general. I went through the motions numb and detached, which I thought was better than coping with daily stresses. However, taking life head-on and knocking stressors down as they arise through more healthy actions and habits is the path to true happiness and contentedness. You know where Kratom brings you. As seasoned addicts say "play the tape". You know where you end up...and you know that what you're trying to recapture is gone.
