What If earth split into three governments; what kind of break up would we see?

If there was World War III and there were two sides and then those two sides became nations combined. What would we be looking at? Where would the world powers side and what about the continents? Would they break into different sides? (Australia, Africa, Asia, etc). Would NATO and Warsaw Pact stick together?

Open ended question. Feel free to answer how you wish even suggesting it's impossible or there would be 3 or 4 sides?

The Ministry of Love has authorized me to state that the world has always been divided between Oceania, Eurasia and East Asia, so what's your point?

Double plus good, brother. Oceania has been at war with Eurasia. How about that increase in choco rations?

East Asia has always been our ally! We must Destroy Eurasia!

Hm that's a tough question to answer because it depends entirely on the circumstances of the war. But, if the world were to break into only three factions it might looks something along the lines of this.

  • NATO as it stands now with Latin America, Australia, NZ, Japan, Korea, Turkey.
  • Russia, the rest of Asia, Iran and everything East.
  • And then there is Africa and the Middle East stuck in the middle, but they would probably side with the West.

As you can probably tell it's very hard to break the world up into only tree factions. What would most likely happen is the larger powers would duke it out, say NATO and Russia/China, and most smaller countries would stay out of it, or stay 'neutral' but help one side.

Now, if the world were to split into smaller factions but not necessarily 3 it might looks something like this.

  • USA/Canada/Mexico
  • Central America/South America/Caribbean
  • Europe/Turkey
  • Middle East/North Africa
  • The rest of Africa
  • Russia/Kazakhstan/Maybe some more Stans or they'll join the Middle East
  • Afghanistan/Pakistan/India/Bangladesh
  • ASEAN
  • Unified Korea/Japan/China/Mongolia
  • Australia and NZ would probably do their own thing but would have very close ties to Europe and North America

These are of course completely hypothetical and a lot of them could happen no time soon due to a multitude of reasons. But, I think these would be roughly what the world would look like if it were to split into factions. Who knows, maybe in a few decades we'll all start getting along and this could become a reality.

Wow! Thanks for that fascinating reply. Exactly what I was looking for! Thanks for your time.

I would love to discuss further but I have very little knowledge on the subject.

Not a problem I'm glad you liked it. If you have any questions feel free to ask I'll do my best to answer them.

If you think Pakistan would ever co-operate with India you are seriously mistaken. More realistic would be Pakistan with China.

I have been considering and talking about the upcoming third world war with friends, a couple of whom are from Iran as well!

It might be a surprise, but Iranian donʻt view us as negatively as we do them, Iʻm actually quite positive down the road Iran and the US are natural allies. They are non arabs in a very arab part of the world, and are in no way, shape or form supportive of the growing Islamic state threat growing in the west. The region, having never been stable or without some sort of foreign intervention has been a melting pot of tensions building up, and will come to full fruition when the Syrian government falls and the IS flag is raised all over Syria.

By Summer next year, All of Iraq to Kurdistan to the north until Kuwait and Suadi Arabia in the south are raising the IS Flag.

Qatar Recognizes the state of Islam as a nation. UAE follows. Suadi Arabia and Islamic State enter into a mutual trade and defense pact.

Meanwhile in Egypt, Al-Sisi has gained a firm grip on the government and is ready to start making move. He models himself the next Alexander the Great, and will reclaim the Holy Land with the rest of the Arab world. Egypt, IS, SA, Qatar and UAE declare war on Isreal. The invasion has already began.

Obama orders the entire U.S. military EU to mobilize in Turkey, Russia sensing the chess pieces are moving moves a bulk or their Armies and navaies in the Crimea, as tensions are already high in the region the Ukraine succumbs to EU pressure and gives into all demands to become a member nation, as it is its only hope in staying independent from Russia at this point.

I can come up with more, but its really late right now. Ill come edit this sometime tomorrow.

Qatar might work with IS, but the UAE won't. Neither will the rest of the Gulf. Iran might seize the opportunity to move into Iraq and harass its neighbors in the south. Like they did in the gulf war

If Russia pulls all its forces to an engagement in Europe, I can see China pulling a Hitler and breaking their treaties to invade Siberia. There's a lot of resources up there that they want to fuel their economy. Many russian towns over there are already more closely tied to Beijing than Moscow, purely because of how far away the capitol is

First off, sorry I was high and on the fringe of going to sleep when I wrote this, it honestly looks like crap! I wish I could take the time and be able to research some of what I write for a little more "current-history" accuracy.

Anywho, Iʻve always though that Hitler could have beat the allies had he secured the Caucasus, and not placed such a high priority on Leningrad and Moscow. While eastern Sibera might have some decent reserves of oil, I donʻt think they would chance scratching Russias back if a global conflict were to erupt, the winters up there are cold and they donʻt mind retreating a solidifying their lines when they are outmatched. But with todays warfare, a war between Russia and China would be worse then if the USA and USSR went to war 40 years ago.

  1. USAEIO (United States of America Europe India and Oceania) Capital: Washington DC, Former United States Strong belief in personal freedom over group freedom. Belief that those who work hard are capable of anything but some people need a little help to get off their feet. The government would provide enough regulation to ensure that all people are taken care of without regulating so much that there's no motivation to work hard and "live the American dream". Basically where the US govt. will be in 25 years with things like healthcare and welfare provided by govt. while competition thrives and citizens are mostly free. USA, Canada, Mexico, Central America, Brazil, Argentina, European Union, South Africa, India and Sri Lanka, Japan, South Korea, Philippines, Taiwan, Austrailia, New Zealand.

Fought and won against

  1. New Republic of Afro- Eurasia Capital - Beijing, Former China Government strict control. People have decent quality life, not much personal or economic freedom but most services are provided. Hard work is not rewarded by better pay. Former Soviet Union, China, SE Asia (excluding countries that joined USA) Pakistan, Bangladesh, Middle East, Venezuela, Columbia, Cuba, Best Korea, Saharan Africa.

  2. New Republic of Subsaharan Africa Capital - Nairobi, Old Kenya Goal to create economically attractive zones for foreign companies to invest in. Since the USAEIO won the war against the New Republic of Afro-Eurasia, USAEIO gets exclusive accent to economic zone in the New Republic of Subsaharan Africa. USAIEO pays New Republic of Subsaharan Africa to drill oil and mine minerals from their land. This money is used to develop Subsaharan Africa.

What an awesome reply! Thank you. That was fun to read. Thanks for the complex reply, the capitals were interesting to read.

Edit: I didn't say anything about the wars and who won but that was awesome! Is this from somewhere or is this all you?
