Only 3 chances to upgrade gems?
I keep reading that "you only get 3 chances to upgrade gems", and that "gems can be leveled to 25".
This doesn't seem to make any sense, unless gem upgrades skip lots of levels when you upgrade them. Even then, it seems like a really restrictive system that makes me not want to upgrade gems until I know exactly what I want.
Or, does this mean "You only get 3 chances to upgrade gems per GRift completed"? Or per character? Or per account? I can't find anything anywhere on this, and I don't want to waste my only 3 chances by experimenting.

Its per GR. Do 100 GRs, you get 300 chances. Each chance is a percentage that scales based on current rank of the gem and the level of the GR in which you are when you try to upgrade.

Understandable, there were a fair amount of missing details in the last patch note dump. Even some of the in game text still isn't that clear. Maybe they'll adjust it down the line.
