I'm looking to color code the continents of the world a certain way for a project and I was hoping for a tool to help me do that.. Any one know of anything?

Not much online. But most people use either Photoshop or GIMP (which is free). Also - r/worldbuilding

What about this one? Loads a while and sometimes doesnt work, just keep trying. Makes pretty nice random maps.

I use campaign cartographer 3, from profantasy software. It has a learning curve from hell, but its the standard in the field for those who don't draw in Photoshop/

hexographer (http://www.hexographer.com/) may also be of interest.

Maybe check out Inkarnate. It requires a beta sign up but I heard you get access in a day or two. I watched the map making video earlier today and it looks pretty decent with pretty minimal effort.

Also, hexographer might be worth checking out. Hex based maps that you can create, modify, label, put icons on, etc. Pretty quick to put something together. The free version is just a .jar file you download and run on your machine.

Because I know far too much about mapping, I use SAGA. This will do everything you can think of with mapping, and plenty of things that you never realised were options.

It will also take you a few years to understand.

I once made a Randland map in Civ.
