The Ultimate Streaming Guide (X-post from /r/Gunners) - Credit to /u/Ananmay

Morning all! I caught this post on my front page, and thought it was extremely useful. Credit again to u/Ananmay, fantastic post. ####.

####THE ULTIMATE STREAMING GUIDE

So after seeing a lot of people complain about various streams going down and whatnot, I decided to make this guide to help people.

So, let's dive right in:

Name: StreamSP

Quality: HD

Overview: Once the king of all streams, StreamSP has kind of fallen into the dumps. The stream used to be perfect for all matches, with one redditor exclaiming how he was surprised 'it didn't turn his internet into a stuttering pile of shit.' The stream is now rather unreliable, much like Arsenal, it only seems to get going after the 80th minute.

Reliability: 5/10

Price: Free

Bonus Features: Random pictures of Robben & KEEP DA FUN GOING.

Name: Wiziwig Flash Streams

Quality: Potato

Overview: The most reliable source for streaming. Streams are usually very low quality, but almost never buffer or go down. Chat boxes are annoying, but can be switched off. Plagued with ads but that can be fixed. A similar site is FirstRow. Thanks to users u/Sharky-PI, u/vaibhavetkar, u/Monkeywithalazer and u/rheino for other alternatives:

Similar to Wiziwig: livefootballlol, LiveSoccerTV, VIPBox, Ronaldo7, ZonaSports - Spanish and RojaDirecta - Spanish.

Reliability: 10/10

Price: Free

Name: VaugnLive

Quality: 60 fps

Overview: This stream was discovered last match. I have no idea how it works but some users reported it being 60 fps. The stream started to stutter eventually. Chatbox is annoying as hell, with no apparent way to switch off.

Reliability: ?/10 (Only one game so far)

Price: Free

Name: AceStream

Quality: Extremely HD

Overview: Acestream is an add-on to VLC that provides you with HD streams but mostly with Russian Commentary. Detailed instructions for setting it up are here. Another similar alternative is Sopcast. Guide here. Links for these are usually found on Wiziwig on the day.

EDIT: Users u/Sharky-PI and u/Nevz92 have pointed out that these are often 5-10 minutes behind the action.

Reliability: 8/10

Price: Free

EDIT: u/Morloca24 pointed out another HD alternative, SportzHD.

Name: SportzHD

Quality: HD

Overview: Another good stream, one downside is that it won't always show Arsenal games. The owner broadcasts the most popular games of the weekend although Arsenal feature heavily.

Reliability: 9/10

Price: Free

PAID OPTIONS

THIS is an extremely useful link.

Name: Premier League Pass

Quality: Like putting on glasses for the first time.

Overview: Possibly the best streaming solution for the Prem. Shows every game at a smooth 4500 kbps! There's a catch though. Service is only available in New Zealand, Taiwan and Philippines. There are several workarounds though. Here is a good site. Astrill is a great VPN service. Some others are ExpressVPN, HideMyAss, IPVanish and Overplay. The setup is rather complicated, but is totally worth the effort. EDIT: User u/devpods just commented this:

Tip: while signing up, use Hola for the sign up process, and enter using the Taiwan site and choose the monthly option (in case your account gets banned in which case you won't get a refund), so sign up to monthly, using the Taiwan site you can sign up for $5 a month. Only, you can't use Hola to stream the games on PLP, just to sign up. To stream you'll need a DNS service. I use Getflix because it's the cheapest lol and has servers in Australia. Good luck!

Also, note that a lot of people have had their accounts cancelled by PLP, no one really knows how they know, whether it's your credit card, address or what, no one knows. I haven't had mine kicked yet. But I recommend only signing up on the monthly, to cut your losses in case it does happen to you.

Also, in the billing address field find a Taiwanese address and phone number and put it (if you're signing up from the Taiwan site). You can use your normal credit card (I did).

Reliability: 10/10

Price: 13€ per month.

Bonus Feature: Awesome quasi-view mode. Watch 4 games at once!

Name: Star Sports

Quality: Great

Overview: Not all games shown but all Arsenal EPL games are shown. (I think) It's dirt cheap but you need to be from India. There are workarounds for this. Astrill is a great service. Some others are ExpressVPN, HideMyAss, IPVanish and Overplay.

Reliabilty: 10/10

Price: 12€ per year!

Name: Official TV Stream

Quality: ?

Overview: Mostly unknown service, suggested by u/assoncouchouch.

Reliability: ?/10

Price: 4$ per month

u/saintcazorla mentioned that NBC can be used too:

NBC (for Americans that have it) streams all the EPL games for free (more like its included in your cable subscription) just Google NBC Live Extra and a schedule will show who's playing. Streams in 3.3mbits per second in full screen.

u/limitz mentioned some more (not official) paid services:

More paid stream options:

Plus1HD

StarStreams

OMFG Streams (I couldn't find a link.)

Sports 1 Nation

All about $11 a month.

WARNING: I HAVE NOT TRIED THESE SERVICES, THEY WERE SUGGESTED BY u/limitz.

###MOBILE

Name: Mobdro

Platform: Android

Overview: Great app for Prem football. Shows whatever is on Sky, so no 3pm games. New update will add a paid option for Chromecast. (Coming Soon). Not in Play Store, you will have to sideload the APK.

Quality: OK

Reliability: 7/10 (Buffers occasionally.)

Price: Free (In app purchase for Chromecast)

Name: UStream - Android

UStream - iOS

Platform: Android & iOS

Overview: Not a streaming app per say, but if you can find a channel on UStream thats playing the game, you can use this. You need the channel name (ask on the match thread) input it into the search-box and voila. There is a 15 second ad at the beginning, but premium can be bought to remove it.

Quality: Depends on the stream.

Reliability: Again, depends on the stream

Price: Free

Name: StopStream - Website

Platform: iOS

Overview: If you go onto this site on Matchday and click Link 1, it has an iOS friendly stream. There is no commentary however, and the quality is subpar. It's also kind of hit and miss.

Quality: Subpar

Reliability: 6/10

Price: Free

EDIT: Added more Mobile and Paid options.

Take that Arsenal fans, you can steal Sanchez? Well we can steal your streaming guide!

In all seriousness its a great post, got me intrigued about foreign pay monthly services

StevieGDagger•

They may take our lives, but they'll never take...OUR STREAMING!!!

4
Maqda7•

If, like me, your internet is shit and are willing to watch in SD rather than HD, my pro tip would be to search google for a stream of the channel showing the game rather than searching for game itself. So search for Sky Sports 1 or BeIN sports 11 or whatever instead of whatever game is showing.

10
Lolkac•

How is sportz reliable? He is like 10 years old child. Will stop the stream without warning or get a big ass message on the screen like HAHAHA FUCKERS or something. He was unbearable last season. And he showed like last 2 games this season

Also this is how you get StreamSP banned...People dont even talk about that stream on r/soccer cause he got viral and they banned him.

10
Clishem•

This is great but you should put acestream at the top and make a point of how good it is, the more people the better

7
Fjoggs•

Most people probably don't care, but I'd like to point out that there's a massive security flaw in how Acestream works.

Quoting a post from a google search (acestream security): "The fact is that AceStream contains one big vulnerability.

Acestream absolutely insists that UPnP is enabled. For that single reason alone, there is no way that I will allow it onto any of my machines.

UPnP allows firewall ports to be opened by applications without any confirmation/approval by the user. It bypasses even Administrator approvals. It is like leaving your house with the doors and windows wide open and advertising that fact with signs outside to attract thieves. It is an easy entry point for those that wish to do harm to your computer.

So this is not a question about any streamer being to blame. It is the absolute glaring weakness in the AceStream design.

Having it on your PC puts you at risk of attack. Don't just take my word for it, just search "UPnP security" in your search engine."

Because of this I stopped using it, and resort to regular flash streams if it's not shown on the paid service I use.

Good read. But all's I do is play csgo, browse this shitty addicting site and watch streams haha

2
raymond1138•

I tried to set it up for my Mac a while back and the instructions were pretty convoluted and it failed for me. Has Mac support gotten any better?

4
PappyPoobah•

Nope. You can do it but its a workaround

1
thinkpicture•

I got it working like twice on my mac using wine. You can however either make a windows partition with bootcamp or a virtual machine using something like virtual on or VMware so you can run windows on your mac.

1
Lolkac•

I tried it, never worked. Just buffering all the time

4
thugmonkey•

Give this a bash.

2
Fapper_Deluxe•

the day bloodzeed stops streaming again will be a sad day. His acestream broadcasts are head and shoulders above flash ones in quality.

7
stripeymonkey•

I wish he still did sop cast though. I find 1500-2000 kbps sopcast is fine on my connection but anything else has to be 1000 or under. I don't get it

3
Fapper_Deluxe•

sopcasts are being banned constantly unfortunately

1
PappyPoobah•

His is better than my official NBC stream

2
teheroic•

Bloodzeed streams are better quality than TV.

1
agntkay•

I used to love Bloodzeed when he was streaming on sopcast, I could even pull it on my android tablet, but AceStream isn't as reliable for me as sopcast.

1
thugmonkey•

Give this a bash.

1
DonTino•

I always watch with SopCast, Great quality but mosts of the time Russian or Romanian Commentary, you can watch it on your iPad, too. I get the links from Wiziwig or LiveTv.sx there are 2-4 2000kb/s streams all the time

5
Gezimd•

How exactly do you setup SopCast for iPad?

2
ta_rolig•

I'm interested in this as well. Tried once on my mac, but if I recall correctly, I wasn't able to get it to work. Would be great to watch on my ipad!

2
DonTino•

You download it to your iPad. (Its an iPhone app, so you have to include this in the search) When you start it, I always get a little error but this is no problem.

THen you go to the Favorite Tab (2nd) and you can add the channel (+).

You Enter the Name you like for it and then the whole SopAdress (Example "sop://broker.sopcast.com:3912/106491")

then the channel will load and start slowly, when the circle is completely full you have the best you can get.

I hope this helps, if not i will make some screens

2
Gezimd•

Yes, you've been very helpful and thorough. Although, it seems like I'm having trouble finding the app by searching Sopcast on the appstore. Does the app go by that name, or am I doing something wrong?

1
thinkpicture•

I think it's either been removed from the appstore or is only available on the chinese(?) store. If you are jailbroken you can get it with a bit of googling

2
DonTino•

I just checked, they removed it from the store :-( I am not jailbroken but I have this app since 2 years...Maybe you can jailbreak your iPad, load it from the web and unjailbreak the iPad. I am sorry, but I thought it is still on

2
Joe56780•

Someone sticky this.

5
podpool3•

Nice one, this is useful for me.

3
podpool3•

Any idea how I can stream to a Samsung HDTV without plugging in my laptop to the TV? The TV is linked to the internet...?

3
The_FreshPrince•

Maybe a chromecast and stream through your phone via wifi?

7
podpool3•

I have a macbook pro if thats any help?

I'll try the chromecast off the phone though cheers.

1
The_FreshPrince•

I'm unaware of an app or anything that can help you out to wirelessly mirror a stream but maybe someone else can help you out. You could buy Apple TV and use Airplay through your mac, but Chromecast is about 1/3rd of the price (though comes with less features).

1
podpool3•

I have an Apple TV, gathering dust actually. However my macbook is from 2010 and I don't think I can use Airplay ie/ the macbook is too old..?

1
DaveCarrot•

Doesn't work for me, no stream (sports, tv series etc.) works through chromecast for me. It's Youtube, Netflix or nothing. Anyone know how to get around this?

You can find multiple streams for every game (EPL, Cup Games, SPL, German, Spanish Italian and French). Can find several languages. Use ADBlock or you will get very tired of popups.

Quality: Meh Reliability: 8/10

Price: Free

3
sigmar123•

I'm sure this is helpful for most.

One thing I'm in the market for is getting to see the Capital One/FA Cup matches. I don't mind paying, I already have a subscription to a Scandinavian streaming service that shows the league and CL, but none of the cups. The greatest thing about that is that they support consoles, so I watch all the PL and CL games on my PS3.

it is expensive, but I see all the matches in those two competitions, as well as all the other PL and CL matches, plus some La Liga and Bundesliga matches. It is quite costly, about 23 quid a month, and you have to get access to movies and series aswell, which I prefer Netflix for.

God I wish clubs had the TV rights to their own matches, and Liverpool FC TV would just show all the matches, as well as u21 matches. Especially perfect if it would work on consoles.

2
Pikul•

Plus1hd

I cannot recommend that site enough, been using it for about 2 years and have had very little trouble. It has every Premier League match and several others from different leagues, it shows a load of other sports too. A lot of streams are also available in HD. On top of that it also has a VOD service which is handy for UFC and WWE events.

Registrations are closed most of the time but if you ever have the chance to join then jump at it.

2
yourslice•

Do you have an invite code you could pm me by chance?

1
Pikul•

They don't have an invite system sorry.

1
Reddits-Reckoning•

How often do they open registrations?

Also, if they have an invite system and you happen to have any invite codes handy, I'd love you forever if you could send me one.

1
Pikul•

I'm not sure how often they open it, it's kind of random and doesn't stay open long. It's not very often it happens.

No invite system sorry.

1
agntkay•

Plus1hd

is it a paid subscription? If so how much do they charge and is it region blocked like other paid subscription services?

1
Pikul•

It's paid, I pay about €7.50 a month I think. It's not region blocked no.

1
agntkay•

that sounds like a great solution then, almost same price as BeIn here in US! Please tag me and let me know if registration opens up or if you come to know of any promotional codes etc, I would love to check this out.

1
Pikul•

Yeah I'll let you know, cant tag cause Im on my phone but I've your comment saved.

1
McErlane•

Best money I spend each month, been with them for a few years now, great as I'm into other sports such as wwe boxing and cricket , so has all those, and all Liverpool ganes

1
orbzome•

Bloodzeed for life! (even if he calls us loserpool on twitter / fb)

2
[deleted]•

Name: http://firstrowsports.eu/

Reliability: 10/10

Quality: not much.

Price: Free

Overview: hell lots of ad's, and the close button will mostly be hidden somewhere within the ad's, i hope adblock should help. all games can be found there, and the quality is SD so its very good for low bandwidth connections.

1
MuggyTheRobot•

I use AceStream a lot, and disagree with some of these points.

mostly with Russian Commentary

More often than not I am able to find an English stream (Bloodzeed is the bomb).

often 5-10 minutes behind the action.

That is not my experience at all. 2-4 minutes behind perhaps, never up to 10.

One negative aspect of AceStream, though, is frequent buffering (some matches no buffering, some matches a lot of buffering).
