Looking at using these guys (or Tech-thralls) as Tempestus Scions in my (eventual) Combined Imperial Army. All these Auxilia models are gorgeous (flippin Forge World, stealing all monies)

Reminds me of Bioshock, which is awesome.

look at those helmets! that's awesome.

What exactly are Solar Auxilia meant to be? Are they a faction within IG, like the catachans or the vostroyans? Are they a standalone army, like scions? I'm very confused.

An elite regiment of the Imperial Army, so a regiment within the bigger Imperial Army, like Cadians or Catachans within the Imperial Gaurd.

They are a faction of the Imperial Army, which was around in 30k and was the precursor to the modern Imperial Guard.
3
There sort of the precursor to the Imperial Guard. Think like a space marine legion to a space marine chapter. Guard in 30k.
2
Not quite. They're a regiment of the Imperial Army, and the Imperial Army is the precursor to the Imperial Guard.
3
what weapon is the Sergeant wielding in his left hand?
2
Looks like a hand flamer and a wrench. That would make an awesome Enginseer model.

Woah, 2 Full flamer PCS squads. Thanks FW.

Arc welder army incoming! Awesome!!

If I made an army of Solar Auxilia, could I use them in 40k?
1
They are a 30k army, Horu's heresy. I don't know how they mix, but I think they do.

You could definitely use the models for Astra Militarum/Imperial Guard (and they look great, so go for it!), but if you mean whether the army lists have a 1:1 correspondence in terms of unit types, equipment, etc., then not quite. You'd probably have to convert some things, or mix models from kits like this one into the basic lasrifle squad as weapons specialists.
The majority of the tanks look to be the same, although there might be a number of upgrades that are slightly different (e.g. pintle-mounted combi-bolters instead of storm bolters).
I haven't had the chance to look over the new HH book in much detail, so I can't say anything about kits that haven't been released yet, but I might spend a few hours on it tonight.

Holy crap those are gorgeous. Can I justify £40 to use these as IG flamers? Dammit Forgeworld.
