[Nintendo eShop] – Current US 3DS Sales (as of 1/23/2015)
Nintendo apparently wants to keep things interesting for us this month. In addition to previous sales that continue into this week, Nintendo has started week 2 of the Throwback Sale.
The other big news this week is that Nintendo is discontinuing the Club Nintendo discount program. Products released after 1/20/2015 will not be eligible for Club Nintendo, you have until 3/31/15 to sign up for Club Nintendo (if you haven't already), and earn coins by registering products and completing surveys, you have until 6/30/15 (11:59PM PT) to spend coins. After this date, they will be deleted, as will your Club Nintendo account. Gold and Platinum status rewards will be given out between 4/1/15 and 4/30/15. And in case you were planning on spending all of your Club Nintendo coins right now, don't – the current deals will remain until 6/30/15, and in February they're going to be adding more to the current list, so you might as well wait until you can see the full selection (unless you want to get one of the physical rewards before supplies run out).
Also, just in case you didn't know, Nintendo's Digital Deluxe promotion is now over. This means you won't be scoring any more points for digital purchases (not that you got anything for 3DS games, but the credit carries over, so it seemed worthy of a mention)... at least not for the Digital Deluxe Promotion (Club Nintendo is still fair game). However, if you managed to score enough points in the Digital Deluxe promo before it ended, you still have time to cash in those points – until March 31, 2015. And at that point, Nintendo's giving you until June 30, 2015 to actually use the activation code in the eShop. So they're giving people plenty of time to trade in their points.
As a reminder, this next week will be your last chance to take advantage of the sale price on the second week of Nintendo's Throwback Sale games (as well as others). Also, be sure to note that deals run until the date in question, not through the date in question! So if a deal ends on the 15th, for example, that means you'd better get there by the 14th!
Hope you find some good deals amongst all of this! :-)
(Note: I am not a Nintendo rep. Just looking to contribute!)

For the scores, if Metacritic didn't list a score, I averaged the scores they had on the game's page on their site. Keep in mind, if both Metacritic and Gamerankings show the same score, they're probably referring to the same 1-3 sites. If a score is over 80%, I highlighted it. And if the score is N/A, then no reviews have been listed on the site at all yet.
New titles have their title highlighted.
Edit: Thanks to /u/scurvebeard for pointing out an error in some of my Club Nintendo dates.

As a 3DS owner, I really wish Nintendo wasn't awful at sales. And that they actually cared about their virtual console, and wanted to make money off of older games by putting them on said virtual console.
You've got several large libraries to work with, Nintendo! Join the 21st century already. You've shown you vaguely understand how the internet works, I'm sure you can figure out the rest.
I know it's mean but it's really how I feel. I like Nintendo, I've always been a Nintendo backer, but they really need to work on a few things.
...also work on keeping up with physical stock.
It's annoying how stuck up and proprietary they are on 20 year old games.
Another thing, Is the 3DS not able to emulate GBA games or something? I would love to have games like Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga or MK Super Circuit on my 3DS.
It's capable, they just... don't.
This happened with the Wii too. The Virtual Console just died on that for awhile. Especially for n64 games, we barely got any of those.
It's kind of capable. The Ambassador GBA games run fine, but you cannot use sleep mode or some other features. The 3DS has to sacrifice features to get the GBA games to run.
How many refreshes has the 3DS had now (3DS<3DSXL<2DS<New 3DS and XL), they couldn't figure this out?
They probably figure it's not worth the effort.
XL and 2DS didnt change any internal stuff and N3DS didn't release worldwide yet
Has the new 3ds been confirmed to not run gba games? I was hoping the upgrades would allow them to put gba games on the eshop.
The Ambassador 3DS games aren't emulated, they're virtualized. The 3DS downclocks itself to become a GBA CPU, similar to how GBA-mode worked on the DS Lite.
I think the problem is that they want to keep some of the best stuff on Wii U only and try to force people to buy that console (despite the fact that 3DS could easily run anything that was on the original Wii VC) and only have Game Gear, GBC and a few NES games on 3DS (there are technically GBA VC games but so far are only for ambassador program members). If Earthbound were on 3DS I probably would have used some of the credit I have left on the eShop to buy it (even better would be if it was cross platform and I could throw it on the Wii U as well when I get one).
This is so right, it's quite sad the list of games is unimpressive for the virtual console and while some classics are certainly there they are way overpriced. No SNES games either which makes no sense at all.
At this point I am considering getting one of those piracy cartridges just to put roms and emulators on it to make up for Nintendo's failings. It's so stupid I'm willing to give them money but they just don't want to properly serve their consumer.
Isn't it weird and confusing at how far they are behind? I love them but damn, fire the whole virtual store staff and get something real going.
