In what weird ways does your body communicate feelings to you?

I just very recently realized my lethargic nature of the past few months was due to stress. That is after running blood sugar, thyroid, sleep, and food analysis, realizing that all that was left was mental. Relaxing some more and working on my stress has resulted in me having much more energy.

In what ways does your body/emotions try to communicate with you that should be obvious but you did not notice for a long time?

My eye twitches, sometimes for weeks at a time, when I have a lot going on

...you mean that's why I get that damn thing?

Both my eye and my upper cheek twitches for the same reason.

I have some kind of tic that gets worse when I'm under stress, where I scrunch my shoulders and shiver. I usually only do it if I get a chill or have a thought I don't like, but when those thoughts get frequent, it seems like I'm doing it every 2 minutes.

How does one stop twitching? I usually have it the way you describe; it just happens to my eyes a few times a day. However, when there's something acutely stressful going on, like when I suddenly have the attention of a group, my whole left face twitches, and I'm certain it's obvious.

My eyes twitch if I try to lie or if I get really nervous.

Sometimes my eyes flood with tears. I'm like "thanks body, my eyes aren't dry at all now. You can stop." Then later, I find out that I'm sad. I don't get how my eye moisture is related though.

Do we (as in human knowledge) know why this is? Getting all congested like it's an allergic reaction due to sadness cannot possibly be evolutionarily beneficial.

It's a stress reaction, right? Something that causes pain, like someone dying, stresses us out so we know to try to avoid that in the future as well as to signal to others that it is painful.

The part about emotional tears starts at 1:40.

  • Not being able to sleep for more than 1 or 2 hours for days despite taking pills to sleep (severe stress).
  • Eyelid twitching.
  • occasional numbness of 1 or 2 fingers
  • low energy
  • inability to concentrate (worse than normal)
  • blistering on hands with (very severe/prolonged stress).

That sounds pretty extreme, what steps did you take to reduce your stress levels?

It really depends on what (or who) the aggravating factor is. The year I quit smoking my hands got very blistered (worst it's ever been) for the 3 months following. I was prescribed a group I steroid which didn't even put a dent in it. I had no choice but to ride it out..

The last time I had sleep deprivation from severe stress it was from a bad misunderstanding with a friend in September. It was around the fourth day of sleep deprivation when I blew up at him (fortunately it wasn't in person). That helped the sleep somewhat, but the meltdown was so severe that it's affected me psychologically (as in I crossed my own boundary and am seriously questioning myself). Surprisingly he's still talking to me.

So I guess I wasn't terribly successful :/

/edit: I suppose if I had valium or something it might have helped with the second case.

If I stress my back and neck tense up into knots, it also blessed me with migraines that cripple me. If I am on edge (no food, sleep, positivism) I am very bitchy and shaking and will rant like a soab.

Well a lot of what I experience wouldn't be weird, except perhaps for a much louder sound of blood rushing in my head than normal. Also if I experience more orthostatic hypotension (dizziness upon sudden rising) than I usually do, despite adequate water intake.

I also tend to be more prone to pimples on my face, I suppose.

horrific insomnia if I ignore something, horrific insomnia if I find something more interesting than sleep (which is nearly everything besides sports ball). If I skip a meal I will start shaking and my muscles will not work adequately, my brain will interpret this as nervousness at times.

  1. Insomnia. 2. Finding myself unable to breathe and having to remind myself to inhale, exhale. 3. My muscles tense up uncontrollably. 4. massive headaches. And many more.

When I feel super stressed stuck on a problem my body gets kind of itchy. When doing exams I usually get hungry and thirsty even if I ate just before. I think too hard.

My fucking stomach. Whenever I am put on the spot and have a lot of attention directed at me with little or no warning (which causes me to stress out), I get this twisting and turning feeling in my stomach that I can't describe. It's somewhat akin to the 'flight or fight' response you get when in a bad situation.

Stomach problems. I will feel nausea, loss of appetite, and sometimes twisting. When I'm worried, nervous, heart broken, and stressed.

My sleep becomes super hard to come by, I end up staying awake for 36 hours on end with 2-4 hours of sleep in-between.

Whenever I get really stressed, I start yawning. It's like my facial muscles got so tense that they needed to stretch.

I also just get really tense in general when I'm angry or annoyed. Never really notice how mad I am until I pay attention to how tight my muscles get.

I dry heave when I'm nervous.

When I'm watching something really emotional on TV or something, my hands ache.

I feel strong positive emotions in connection with other people or things feels like a lump in my chest

Negative emotions like fear or anxiety feel the same but deep in my stomach.

Strong positive feelings associated with ideas or concepts feels like a tingling or a swelling in my head

Reading certain passages can send tingles down my neck and shoulders, sometimes all the way down my back. Some songs give me the same sensation.

I think it's all very odd but very enjoyable.
