"Hey everybody - there was a confusion over a few things as this was an AMA announced / set up by the PR / marketing company that reps WD Ventito and set up the the BAFTA talk, not by our internal PR so there was a miscommunication under what account the AMA would be set up for and who would start the AMA off (I am writing from my Reddit account that I did my past AMAs from right now)

I was scheduled for an hour but with all the confusion we're past the time and I have a pretty full day so we're going to have to reschedule.

His comment about the marketing company reps made me curious. I'm pretty confused about what WD Ventito is.. Did anyone hear them mentioned at the BAFTA talk? I have looked and looked at the site and can't even begin to understand what is going on. Western Digital, makers of hard drives spent all that money to start a professional advice forum of user generated content? What? Why?

Pure speculation but, WD is creating what seems to be a TEDx sorta thing focused on gaming and tech partnering with journalism sites and other such gaming platforms for marketing in the gaming sector. They are in a constant fight with their closest rivals seagate who offer a wide variety of the fastest growing storage sector for gamers (SSDs) whereas even though WD bought hitachi global storage(small enterprise ssd range) their ssd line is still small they need to market to gamers to stay in the limelight in the coming years i guess also offering the usage of your PR department to the largest crowdfunded game ever with over 700,000 members is a great idea. who can honestly say that before Bafta they had even heard of WD Ventito.

thanks yeah i was as baffled as you about the whole thing. i thought the same also about the massive PR boost they are offering but starcitizen is not that small game we all signed up for back in the day promising the universe, its a $70 million behemoth stretching its legs its only fair to say if a game is saying it will push PC hardware to its limits and only the best will do, wouldnt it be sensible to have your name all over it :P

During last week's RtV, Sandi said that she thought it was canceled, but nothing else has been said to confirm or disprove that statement.

Hopefully they will reschedule, but I have no idea on their timeframe for doing so.

Calm down. This isn't going to hurt the game that much. Almost certain that only SC fans would have had a chance to spam the first questions anyway. No new people would have had a chance to ask.

He's done three AMAs thus far, but I'm not exactly sure what you're on about, or why linking an excerpt from his last one is relevant.

Back when he needed money he was sure to turn up. Because Reddit was instrumental. Now: not so much anymore. I did not like that very much. People disagreed. That's fine.

Well for one, when he did the AMA you link they had already raised around $8.5 Million, so even if they still needed to use their outside funding, the game was going to get made.

If you read his explanation/apology it's pretty clear an outside PR firm did something squirrelly and that they needed to work things out with the r/IAmA mods to get things setup as a verified AMA; he was ready and willing (albeit maybe a little late from a meeting) but given how much time was wasted on that, plus the fact that, well he's kind of a busy guy, I'm happier with a delayed AMA than a rushed one.

Sorry for the downvotes. :(
