Damn nearly kod Johnson there. That's why you don't try to go too hard like that with people better than you lol

Yeah I think a lot of people who don't watch a ton of striking like pure kickboxing or MT get confused with Holzken because he doesn't throw much volume, but he is a master of efficiency. There is nothing wasted in his style, he is either setting something up or throwing something devastating. He is one of those guys you can kind of hit three times and then in one strike he does more damage then you even came close to with your three. The Glory 19 tournament underscored this perfectly. He threw less than either of his opponents but clearly won both fights.

When it froze I yelled out and thought it was my internet connection so went back and reloaded it...whoever edited that robbed us of how that incident finished!

I'm pretty sure he went down, which is why they cut it out there. That left hook from holzken is really really dangerous, no matter what he's aiming at.

He dropped Daniels what, 2, 3 times with it to the body? Fucking nasty left hook. I want to throw a lead hook as good as he does someday.

His liver shots should be illegal, the way he destroyed Daniels made me cringe at times

The fact that this has less upvotes then the random stupid shit McGregor does, or stupid twitter fights, or street fight videos, really bothers me about this sub.

I'm glad Nieky Holsken is back, he was on fire 2 weekends ago. After his first fight, didn't expect him to come out like that for the second one.

thats why i didnt post all the previous parts (2 & 3) really, not a lot of people seemed to be interested in it but maybe i should in the future, i mean guess we need to start somewhere to change it back around.

We got an inside view of sparring for some one preparing for a fight (both of them actually) in Chandler and Holzken.

Then training footage of a rocked and gassed Chandler, showing exactly how hard these guys train.

Then finally Vitor training and learning small adjustments from one of the very best kick boxers sport.

You get to see the subtlety, the little nuances.

Most would see Vitor's pad work and think damn, he's good, then you see Holzken jump in and show him for to do it better and that's when you realize the difference between good and great.

This post is probably one of the best made here in the last year.

Post the other parts, fuck the karma, just post them here in the comments.

Yeah, it's pretty irritating. Oh well, MMA tends to attract more than its fair share of idiot meatheads, especially here in North America.

Edit: I don't think a lot of people on this subreddit or MMA fans in general appreciate the subtleties of elite striking. A lot of them complain about how Muay Thai and Boxing are boring. To me the technicality is a huge part of the appeal.

We have r/mmatechnique for there, but there hasn't been a push to transition over there. Maybe if people started posting there too. Dunno. I wanna see r/mma split between news, technique talk, etc

I don't, fuck everything about that.

Belfort looks far from soft in these clips. And he may even be shedding a few pounds of fat as he diets pre-fight and look even more ripped.

Yeah I was just thinking that. I think Weidman wins, but the fight is more dangerous for him than most people think. Vitor is still dangerous as fuck, and crazy, which helps.

3
Gumbi1012•

Ehh I dunno about that. If Weidman gets out of the first round he will win for sure though.

Belfort has shown weaknesses vs wrestlers before, and Weidman's striking is ever improving. Vitor is just too old to be a threat anymore.

I'm a Weidman fan and I agree.... but then again the guy made it to the 4th round with Jones on short notice... while almost tapping him. Yeah, he's off the trt, but he'll always be a problem.

2

Yeah I agree, I still think Weidman probably crushes him, but people are pretending like Vitor has absolutely no way to win this fight and that isn't the case. I think in the first round he will still be really dangerous, after that it should be smooth sailing for The Chris.

Awesome. Those combos were crazy, dude definitely knows his shit.Belfort looked like he was picking up a lot there.

More footage of Holzken sparring with Michael Johnson (couple of entertaining seconds in there lol...) and Holzken training with Vitor.

Interesting stuff really, pretty cool he had it all recorded and putting it online.

Vitor's striking is so fucking crisp. Looks very natural hitting those combos.

I could see many similarities between the way Holzken/Daniels and Johnson/Barboza played out. If your opponent has deadly kicks, close that distance. Get in his face and make it a dirty fight.

Should Johnson get that match with Benson that he asked for, he needs to train with Holzken again and continue to improve.

Dope. I love these kinds of videos. I just wish all of these fighters can conveniently learn English for me and carry a camera at all times.
