Weeeeeird. It should probably be rare, if it isn't already. It's hard to tell with that set symbol.

It is. :]

Esarael: Return target idea to its owner's head.•

Eh, this is weird. At that cost and with that ability, I guess it's indeed aimed at being a low drop, gaining control of an opponent's low drop?

Is it in any format that somehow enables this (meaning, helps it target creatures with higher CMC)? For example, even in the current Standard, things like Delve or Rebound work great with this.

This card looks ok in power level, and somewhat strange, but the more I look at it the more I like it.

Do note that this is countered by any instant. You might want to make it converted mana cost equal or less than the number of spells cast.

That limitation is somewhat the reasoning behind it. I originally threw in an "exactly" to guide players, but the precedence set by cards like Necroplasm told me to remove it.

I can see lots of in game issues with the current text. Maybe just give it split second? Just seems so very easy to counter it, especially it being sorcery speed. In fact, I like this so much more as instant speed... but I guess that makes it significantly more powerful and that might not be what you're going for.

Hm. What issues do you see (besides it being a bit easy to stop if the opponent has an instant to toss)? I like the idea that you have to play around a lot but also that you can get a massive advantage at a low cost if you play your cards right. There are a couple redirection effects I've been playing with as well.

I've considered making it just cost [U] or having it target nonland permanents. Letting it be an instant is just begging to steal 2-drops on the play and getting massive tempo advantage (I'm a bit reluctant to push that power level).

The issues I see are players unfamiliar with the card first not believing that an instant would counter it, and then being pissed that there is absolutely nothing they can do about getting around that. At least most other effects that counter your things can be responded to with the right cards.
If you went the instant speed route, you would definitely want to up the CMC, but split second seems the simplest way to circumvent feel-bad scenarios without having to mess with the power of the card. I just really like the idea of watching my opponent casting all these spells on his turn, making some huge voltron creature, and then casually playing this at end of turn, turning all that spell slinging against him. That feels like the flavor of the name and effect to me.

This should probably be an instant. You can't grab something on their turn, to make them pay for over-extending.
