Service provider took too long to file. Stuck with bill.
I just received a billing statement for an MRI I had February 2014 in the amount of $1,915.00. I was confused since I had multiple MRIs last year due to a non-work related accident and had never paid more than a few hundred for each MRI all from the same imaging office. I looked up my account through their billing website and discovered my insurance had denied their claim with the given reason: The time limit for filing has expired.
Here are the dates:
Dated of service: February 2014
Filed primary: July 2014
Guarantor Responsibility date: February 2015
Statement date: March 2015
My question: Do I really have to foot the entire bill just because the imaging office took too long to file with my insurance? That seems absurd.

NO! Holy shit, NO! If the provider did not bill the claim within timely limits, and they can't appeal with proof of timely filing (as some companies"lose" claims), then they have to write it off/eat it, it's THEIR error, not yours.
Please, for the love of God, please PM me if you can't get this resolved on your own, you are NOT responsible for the billers errors.

Thanks for the help. I'll probably get around to dealing with it next week. My company uses a third party that helps take care of billing errors, pricing procedures, and such, but I've found them to be largely incompetent. I'll pitch it to them, and if they just throw their hands up in their air, as they seem to be want to do, I'll try making some phone calls myself. If that doesn't work, I'll PM you.
