¿Best Trinity self-damaging weapon?

Build

I'm trying to optimize my Blessings. My Kestrel works pretty well (and I like that I can use the Cephalon Suda augment on it), but for some obscure reason, quite often it bugs out and I stop being able to melee at all, so I need a Secondary backup.

Tried the Angstrum, but I can't remove the Blast proc chance from it, which is quite incovenient when you're staggered trying to Bless.

I was thinking about the Stug, being able to sit on top of toxic blobs seems like a good way to reach that sweet 99% damage reduction with little side effects.

¿Any suggestions?

Castanas

I thought Castanas cause Electric procs? I did try those, but maybe I was modding them wrong.

Do electric procs even do anything to frames?

Reduces your damage. Similar to puncture proc.

2
AndurOP•

Isn't that exactly the same as puncture proc? Seems awfully redundant.

1500 hours in this game and I never knew that

Hmmm, good point. I was assuming they had a chance to chain-damage nearby frames+chance to stun, but I don't think I've seen that happen while under the effects of an Arc Trap (although maybe I wasn't paying attention).

Note: you can't inflict self radiation. I may or may not have tried to kill my teammates.

The point is, you can only hurt yourself, not your "friends". >.>

Penta

AndurOP•

Penta is a Primary, and has a chance to cause Blast procs as well, same as Angstrum.

I prefer to leave the Primary slot for actually dealing damage, selecting the correct weapon for the mission type.

Glaive then?

Does the Glaive lack the bug of the Kestrel where melee is completely disabled after throwing it a bunch of times on a row?

OGRIS TRINITY!!!!! That was the way to go back when blessing gave immunity, but it can still work with QT trinity. The only reason why this is better than the Penta/angstrum/castanas is because the Ogris has far higher damage per shot, and can be detonated at your feet easily. One blast is all you need. Use with caution.

1
AndurOP•

Ogris has the same problem of the Angstrum: 10% chance of inflicting Blast proc, which might become lethal of you're trying to recast Bless under heavy fire while QT is active.

That's not an issue if you have link up though.

1
AndurOP•

How do you remove 99% of your health while Link is active?

I's only like 75% damage reduction iirc. Just put on primed split chamber and the four primed elemental mods!

Asidraoah•

You can still take plenty of damage with link up, It just takes longer.

Sancti Castanas all day! The electric damage gets a bonus against your shield which makes even more damage effect your link.

AndurOP•

I might give Castanas a second chance. However, the Sancti version seems worse than the regular ones for this purpose:

Ideally, you want 0% crit chance. Dealing double damage could be lethal unless you're at full energy. Sanctis have 10% instead of 5%.

Purity heals and boosts max health, and so you're moving the HP target for fine-tuning the weapon damage number to avoid wasting QT energy.

I switched over to the castanas after a raid where I could not get a self harm proc with my glaive prime to save my life. I still have to tune the damage and multishot on the castanas, but they were much easier to get 90%+ blessings with than the glaive which I could only get to about 70% max when I was successful.

I basically run with no Vitality or Redirection at all, it's easy to hit 99% with the Kestrel. I think a particular mod is causing the weapon to bug, either flight speed or -bounce, because right now it doesn't seem to bug anymore.

With regular Castanas, I have to deploy 4 radiation ones to hit 99% (no catalyst), so I slotted a pistol mutation mod just in case I run into ammo issues.

Good thing about this setup is I can fine-tune the damage in case I'm not at 100% HP, so I can deploy 3, 2 or 1 and minimize energy waste.

Gotta love that radiation self proc, err the inability to proc radiation on oneself. Makes the castanas on pretty much the same level of the angstrum of risk. No crit chance with blast proc or crit chance with no procs, pick your poison!

I run with rage and quick thinking, so I just link before I start hurting myself. Also the proc is nice for the aoe damage and reviving yourself and allies.

1
AndurOP•

I thought the HP proc having a reviving effect was hotfixed a while ago?

The Sancti Castanas still have that effect. Did it yesterday with friends in survival. Wether it is supposed to have it idk, but it is the only syndicate weapon that still does from my tests with the marelok, ballistica, gammacor, and castanas.

Rolling often fixes not being able to melee.

I use my kestrel or glaive.

Stug is best for outputting damage via link due to it's fast firing and link only having 3 targets.
