What's the cheapest way to procure a bottle of Macallan 18?

Hi Scotch,

I'm a newbie and perfectly content to sip my $50 bottles, but I have a mentor whose birthday is coming up and he only drinks Mac 18. I can't normally afford it but he's done so much for me in the last year that I want him to know how much I appreciate him. I just want to make sure I don't pay too much. What's the best way or place or website to get a good price on this stuff?

Thank you.

Perhaps get him a half bottle for approximately half the price?

The only idea I can think of besides swapping it with someone from r/scotchswap who values it less than what it costs is to go in on a case deal with friends who want to each buy one but that would be hard to accomplish. Maybe a half bottle? Find a place that puts it on sale? If you have a liquor store chain by the name of Twin Liquors (mostly in TX I believe) they hold a killer $1 sale twice a year where they charge the wholesale cost + $1 on everything.

You could also choose something less expensive? Theres plenty of good bottles to get that cost less.

You will be hard to pressed to find it for much lower than $200. Sorry.

Since you have "md" in your name, are you in Maryland by chance? Mac 18 is only $177 for full bottle and $91 for small 375ml bottle in Montgomery County. Those prices are really good.

Yeah I'm pretty close to working poor. Don't see that changing any time soon despite my college degree, multiple jobs, and working wife. Thanks for the super helpful tip, buddy.
