His insurance company had our car towed to a shady auto shop 4 towns away and when we asked to have it moved somewhere closer to home they refused. Now the body shop wants $90 a day for "storing it" or they won't release it. His insurance won't commit to covering him because they say the car is in his parents' name. My insurance won't give me a rental car, nor are they being helpful at all-- every time we call they say our adjuster has stepped out or left for the day, and she never returns our calls (not sure if I can name names but this is a very large insurer with a popular human female spokeswoman).

Now we're 5 days and counting without our car or a rental and we have 2 kids and 3 jobs

Got a knock on our door from a policeman last night. Our car got clobbered pretty hard by a young driver. We exchanged info.

Our concern is that the damages exceed the KBB value of the car and they're going to try to cut us a check and total the car.

The problem is that we will not be able to replace this car for the KBB value. Even though it's almost 10 years old, it has low miles and has been well taken care of.

We feel bad for the kid who hit our car but we do not want to get screwed from this. Can we legally demand that his insurance company fix our car instead of totalling it?

If you're a serious actor in a large market, you know how hard it can be to get a good agent, a manager, an audition, or even just a 5-minute meeting with these people. I had an experience the last few days that might help you understand why these people don't want to talk to you.

I was hired to produce a small project and given a budget that included generous pay for actors. I'm an actor myself, so I chose to pay a nice rate-- about twice the going day rate for only a half day's worth of work.

So I went on one of the large casting websites and put out a notice. 120 people replied. My partner and I picked the 6 best and invited them onto the project based on their resumes, photos, and de

It seems like everyone these days is predicting that the world is about to get crazy; AI/the singularity, nanotech, super biotech (like drastically extended lifespans), biointegrated internet, supervision from either eye implants or augmented reality, mass cyber wars or cyber arms races, etc etc.

I'm just wondering where all the counterarguments are. There must be someone out there saying we've hit a wall and the world in 30 years will be pretty similar with just better cellphones and maybe self driving cars.

The whole album used to be on there. I've played it many times. Wondering if this is some weird licensing issue like (I assume) why Evolver is not on there.

I've bought Transistor on tape and CD probably a half dozen times over the years and lost/worn out/loaned out and never got them back. Now I pay for streaming and more than half the album is suddenly gone. I don't want to pirate but jeez..

I want to get invisalign or braces but I've talked to some dentists about it and they just want to take your money and be the middleman between you and invisalign without knowing anything or doing any work. I want an orthodontist who knows his or her shit and will give me a more personalized treatment. Thank you!

Samsung Galaxy S5. Did they discontinue these features? I'm a google music all access subscriber and have been since day one. Suddenly ad free and background YouTube videos aren't working and my YouTube app doesn't even show the options related to them under settings anymore.

Hi Scotch,

I'm a newbie and perfectly content to sip my $50 bottles, but I have a mentor whose birthday is coming up and he only drinks Mac 18. I can't normally afford it but he's done so much for me in the last year that I want him to know how much I appreciate him. I just want to make sure I don't pay too much. What's the best way or place or website to get a good price on this stuff?

Thank you.

OK so someone close to me works for a very large company. I'm trying to be vague but I'll say it's more or less in the shipping industry. Three people used to do his job, but the other two were fired and not replaced. Now he's been literally working around the clock for over a month. He naps on the floor of his office for a couple hours between his duties (which come every 8 hours and take 3-5 hours to complete). This is 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. He doesn't have a day off.

He has two mortgage payments and a family to support and a very niche set of skills. He's (legitimately) afraid that he will be unemployed for the rest of his life if he complakns, but he's physically at the end of h
