I found it really interesting they made the connection about Lawrence and the Blood-letting beast you fight in chalice dungeons. Theres three different versions. One with a head, one with a split, and one without. It's not coincidence i think.
the dialog "The time has come again I fear. But if the fates smile upon us, we’ll soon meet again. Farewell, dear friend." i thought was a glitch when i died to him one time. it seems not to be now.
They fail to mention in the article the third form though. The third form would be the most fitting for this theory. The headless one. because his head is sitting in a church...
after going through the whole article...it seems too good to be true. I bet they got a copy of the guide early seeing as its already finished (i bet) to be shipped next week. That or spoke with somebody thats inside on the development/has knowledge on the lore.

The dialogue sounds like Patches. Could he be just near the fight? Does he have special dialogue if you die near him?

I died to a completely unrelated enemy (Abductor), and got that line of text as well. Maybe he just has to be present in that dungeon or layer.
