Crazy election fliers...

I had one today from the conservative party (they have no chance of winning in my constituency), and her main selling point was that you should vote for her (and the conservative party), because if you vote for one of the others, they will form a coalition!!

I still haven't had any from the far left socialist party that usually stands around here, they are usually quite funny too.

anyone else got anything similar?

I had a dreadful one from UKIP that was hand written and photocopied. It was just awful. The guy who cleans my bins has a better leaflet.

You have somebody who cleans the bin? and even has fliers?

Ireland is posher than I remember.

In all honesty I have a jet washer and I could wash my own bins easily, but the truth is I feel sorry for the guy. There are three bin washers competing in my area, and I don't know how they're making any money from it at all. You know there's something wrong with the economy when a business that must return an absolute pittance is considered viable. Maybe I'm wrong.

The only leaflets I've had are from the SNP (delivered by an activist) and Labour (Electoral Communication via the Royal Mail).

I've got 7 candidates, but the other 5 don't seem to have bothered yet.

I've delivered Labour, LibDem, SNP, and Tory so far...

My Tory candidates flier says 2 things.

  1. I care about the economy, 'cause I'm a Tory.

  2. I'm the regional manager for roads in the council. Let's fix the roads. Vote for me and I'll fix the roads.

That's it.

Oh it also says "I'm looking forward to your support on May 7th" which is quite optimistic considering they normally come 4th here.

Solid logic on point 2 to be fair to him.

Somehow the Tories seem to have got my old address at my parents (not lived there for 4+ years now) and have been sending me weekly letters that from their wording seem convinced I'm a Tory voter. Not the typical mass mailed flier stuff.

Nobody else in my family gets Tory letters and none of them admit to signing me up with them for a laugh (I'm a pretty vocal SNP voter & member).

Surely he'd have more power to fix that in his current role rather than from Westminster?

I got a similar Lib Dem one, they were a councillor and it almost read like the personal statement on a CV. Saying they achieved x, y and z and now they are hoping to apply that as an MP.

I'm in a seat that the Tories have to hold to get a majority and their ground campaign has been abysmal. Labour posters in the windows and gardens everywhere, whereas Tories have bought up big scare posters. Leaflets from both parties but a lot more from Labour. A local nurse knocked on my door with a passionate defence for voting Labour, an old lady from Tories who asked who i'm voting for and tutted at me when I said probably not them.Labour also had a group of campaigners at the train station yesterday giving out leaflets. If my experience is the same in other swing seats, the Tories are fucked.

I've been sent a Labour party leaflet but nothing else. No posters in my area either - just two or three signs. There's still remnants of 'Yes' stickers on the lampposts and in people's cars though.

I got an addressed letter from Martin Freeman asking me to vote Labour.

Aye, fuck that

Considering how reserved and xenophobic hobbit's are I'm surprised he isn't supporting UKIP. All these damn wizards coming here with adventures.

Personal insult, was it?

"because if you vote for one of the others, they will form a coalition!!"

A lot of people don't want the SNP influencing decisions, I don't know why you find this crazy, its a valid point.

"had one today from the conservative party (they have no chance of winning in my constituency)"

Doesn't Cardiff have a conservative politician?

if i lived 200 yards further south, i'd be in Cardiff North which is (and as they have a chance, their leaflets seem to have more effort put into them), but i'm just in Pontypridd, which has been Labour since 1922, and in the 1918 elections they were a close second....

I should add that the scary photo with the coalition actually had Nick Clegg in it. I mean honestly, Labour (and especially the relatively unpopular MP) have a lot of shortfalls here, but to me at least that seems bizarre.
