W1 done - my thoughts so far + my first experience with a GPS running watch!

Hi guys, So I'm just finished week 1. I found it hard but extremely rewarding. After enjoying my first two runs immensely I decided to purchase a GPS running watch for day 3 onwards. I just used it for W1D3 and man was it good.

Whenever I felt like I was cheating I looked down at the watch and listened intently at the beeps that told me to start walking and I didn't feel as guilty. Plus, it showed me my route so I can show others where I've been and also gave me a time to strive towards for future runs. I ran/walked for 21 minutes and only covered 1.68 miles but I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Based on this week I'm going to find W2 very difficult but I can't wait to rest my legs and then get started again.

My thoughts on C25K in general - awesome! I've never ever been active and for the first time in my life I've gone from despising P.E at school to actually enjoying exercise!

TLDR: GPS watch is really cool and so is C25K!

That's really cool! I considered something similar so I could listen to music bit decided I wanted to concentrate on my mental thoughts to spot myself on if that makes sense. Running has become my quiet alone time.

Nice! I'm planning on getting one when I finish the program. Glad to know it's working for you!

Awesome, they definitely seem tailored to long running sessions however it times my walk and tells me when to start running and vice versa so I don't have to constantly check my minute hand. Invaluable.

Awesome-- I just bought one (the affordable Garmin forerunner 10). The branded 'active Couch to 5k' app won't keep a GPS fix, so I'm hoping the Garmin will allow me to actually quantitatively measure my progress

I've got the exact same watch. I didn't need the extra features of the forerunner 15. I looked at the map the watched produced after my first run with it and it seemed practically spot on to the route I took for the most part, even down to the slight detour from the curbside I took to use a pedestrian crossing!
