I didn't realize this was actually a new program until I saw another thread talking about it in r/playstation.
Apparently this is a PSN+ exclusive sale, not merely a two-part sale where PSN+ members receive additional discounts.
The logic is a little strange to me personally, as long as I have a PS3/4 I'll have PSN+.
If the new program is to entice more users to purchase PSN+ the sales seem lack luster right? Because if you're frugal enough to not have PSN+ ($40 a year on sale), you probably aren't reading this and thinking "awww fck, now I have to subscribe so I can get 20% off Bloodborne..."
just FYI, PSN is one thing... PS Plus is another
/nitpick
Haven't you heard? PSN+ is a subscription service for the PSP Vita.
Nan, it's a legacy device man!
you're killing me
I could get The Order, brand new, from EB Games for $40 CAD. And it's "On Sale" here for $48 USD. That's terrible.
I guess this is perfect if you want to pay slightly less than full price a couple months later and can't operate a motor vehicle or a bus pass to go to a store where these things are much, much cheaper.
is anyone else unable to add oreshika to their cart? keep getting the classic 'not eligible' error message
I haven't played a good Dragon Ball game since Budokai Tenkaichi 2 and 3 on the PS2. How is Xenoverse holding up to them?
holy shit 20% off! what a deal! /s
these are so unnecessary in my opinion.
Is it just me or are these prices still terrible? I'm not paying $48 for The Order. To me, these should be the normal sale prices, with Plus sales being like 25-50% off, maybe up to 75%. I'll never go digital until the prices are better. I did buy Trials the other day, but that was because I doubted I could find it for less than $5 physical.
They're always going to be terrible until they hit Steam sale levels of discounts.
They've never been quite to Steam level but they're getting better. Within the past year I've snagged Mass Effect Trilogy for £10.49ish instead of £57.99, SSX for £4ish, Red Dead for £5ish, Doom 3 BFG for £6-7.
I got Bayonetta for 3€ and Ni no Kuni for 5€ a while ago, I'd say they are indeed getting better.
Oh yeah, Ni no Kuni was another! I got that for about £6.50 I think.
The flash sales are pretty damn close.
Not necessarily. They just need to price either at or below a reasonable street price. This game can be purchased new for $40, used for $30. A reasonable sale price would probably put it $25-$30.
PS3 regularly hits awesome discounts. Hopefully it's not too long until the PS4 catches up.
That's why I stick to PC. Thanks to all the crazy Steam Sales and Humble Bundle, I got hundreds of good games.
I only got a Vita because there isn't a real PC handheld.
Will not get a PS4, unless there is a steep price drop on the games. In my country, a game on Steam costs literally half of the PS4 version on launch!
This.
Console digital stores NEED to compete with PC and big box retailer numbers. It's the only way to legitimize them as a first party seller of gmaes, and not just a quirky, convenient alternative.
Hard to compete with big box retail stores as they have contracts with those stores and if they start undercutting them too much stores will just stop stocking the games. Microsoft and Sony need stores more than stores need them except for maybe games top at this point.
PC games have been doing just fine without brick and mortar stores. If Steam, Origin, and GoG can get by just fine, so can Sony and Microsoft.
No reason for them not to be discounted after sales drop. Here's a prime example, NBA2K14 is still 49.99 or 59.99 still! 2K15 is on the downswing now, and 2K16 is starting to advertise for pre orders. At GameStop if I bought a nearly two year old sport game it would be 5-20 bucks new or used.
Huh? What's your logic behind that? Why should a brand new game be $48? They DO have insane sales multiple times a year that are 50% off or more. I am 100% digital with my ps4 and couldn't be happier.
Because it's already $39 new, even less used.
Digital games should bare some resemblance to physical prices if they want to convince everyone to move over.
For the most part digital it's still new for consoles... This is the first gen that has even offered 100%of the library available digitally. It will get there eventually just give it time. Steam was horrible at launch and took quite awhile to figure out how to price games accordingly. Like it or not though digital is the clear future.... This announcement with ps+ sales is a huge step forward for better pricing
