I was gonna say its like Supernatural.
A cool guy wanders around, beats up and is beat up by monsters and detailing some crazy lore while doing it.

Sure there's a war going on...

But that is not what you are there for. You are the one who is there to investigate the paranormal. 


The best storyline element of The Witcher is the same reason we like The X-Files.
