Shout out to GPU Shack - You're Amazing (X-Post from r//buildapc)
I'm just so impressed with Alex and what he's done all on his own, I've got to tell the world. A lot of companies are greedy, sly, or generally displeasing to work with, but this is an absolute dream:
A couple months back I grabbed a couple refurbed IceQ 7950s for crossfire (in separate orders). When they both arrived and I slapped them in, I found that one of them had a bad fan that wobbled like crazy at certain speeds. As well, I recently moved and didn't realize how much of a sauna CF would make my room. I emailed Alex and within the day he responded, provided a shipping label, had me ship them back for a full refund, and expedited a replacement order of an XFX r9 290 DD for me to help with my heat issues (of course this was agreed on first).
This month, that replacement sadly started artifacting like crazy in the Witcher, and eventually just playing a Youtube video would kill it unless the voltage was ramped up above stock. Since this one was bought brand new and I registered for lifetime warranty I opened a (very detailed) ticket with XFX, but they gave me the usual workaround (Youtube isn't GPU related, flash the bios, restart the computer, plug it into other machines, etc - all of which I had already addressed from the first message) . When I straight up said that I just wanted to send it in for warranty... they still haven't replied (3 days later).
Well, I thought to myself, Alex might be able to help me. So I emailed him and profusely apologized for the trouble explained what was up and asked if there was anything we could do, he replied within a couple hours. While he did give the usual solutions, he didn't ignore the details I gave him and at the end even offered that, if nothing works, he'll take care of it. Soon I'll be sending the card back to him with shipping he paid for and he'll be sending a discounted ($30 more instead of $40) MSI 970 (Gaming) as a replacement (as the XFX r9 290 is out of stock).
GPU Shack didn't need to help me here, I bought this card a month ago. Most refund policies, if they offer one at all, are 7 days. And on top of that you have to pay for your shipping and sometimes restocking. Some companies won't even take "damaged" returns, they'll just tell you to go do the manufacturer's warranty. And none of these problems were GPU Shack's fault in any way. The XFX card I received was still all wrapped up, how could they have known? For barely more than the warranty with XFX would cost to ship and in far less time, I'm getting an upgraded card and that's some absolutely astounding service.
Thank you Alex. Again, I'm incredibly impressed with everything you've done. Keep up that amazing work and I wish you all the luck in the world. I can guarantee that, regardless of sales, I'm going to be buying any future graphics card I can from you.
