Is It Just Me Or...
....did something happen with some of the combat mechanics after Horse Lords came out. I'm a bit familiar with how things went before the new expansion.
Clear victories are somehow turning into defeats -- I outnumber the enemy and my morale is full. Taking some territory doesn't add onto the war-score, noticed this while helping the Byzantine Empire, and while taking care of things (revolts and the like) on the home front.
I've just never had seen this before up until now. It's frustrating me, and making the game, to me, not so much fun anymore.

The attack and defense values of different types of troops have been rebalanced in the Horse Lords patch. Higher-quality troops like heavy infantry are now more capable of winning against superior numbers.
So, someone with ~1200 troops can defeat someone with ~5000...?
If the 5000 is mostly light infantry, then those 4-to-1 odds are plausible. Especially if the smaller army is defending and benefits from a river crossing or terrain bonus.
I don't remember the specifics. I just remember a day or so after the battle started I lost. Rage quit insued. Along with a rage uninstall.*
Edit: The last sentence.
If 5000 is a tribe levy then yes
They're not tribe levies. Feudal. I don't know. Things just got weird. Got in the fight, a day or two later I lose.
