Let's talk Soviet light tanks!
This isn't going to be a DAE developers hate soviets lel? shitpost.
I wanted to help everyone look on the positive side of the Soviet light tanks.
I posted this a while back, so I'll let it stand as my discussion about the little T-38. Everything still stands. I love that little shoebox.
Next up is the T-26. This one I actually don't care for too much. It's slow. Speed is the best thing that Soviet lights have going for them.
Other than it's lack of speed, the armor is alright and the cannon is decent. It's average in just about every aspect. You will get murdered by starter tanks from the side and rear, but if you play smart and pay attention to your surroundings, they won't even get close enough to do that. All and all the only word I can give this thing is average. Not necessarily bad, just...average. It can be good or bad depending on the guy behind the...err, stick.
Finally, we've got the little BT-7. I love it too. The little Soviet unicorn. I rarely ever see these in my matches, so when I do, it's just as special as seeing a unicorn.
It's armor is better than the T-26, it's speed is better, and it's got the same gun. With APCR, it is a flanking MACHINE. Running up on the side of enemy armor spawns and killing everybody from the side is pretty much what the Betka was made for. And she's fantastic at it. Of course, she has her faults. It has no secondary machine gun positions, which every other nation has on their t3 light tanks, and the armor is still just average. Unlike the Stuart or the 38t, starter tanks can penetrate you from the front. Your only chance is to angle your armor, and try to get the shots to bounce while you destroy it before it destroys you.
If you get the drop on any light tank though from the cover of trees or buildings, you can take them out in a snap. The gun is reasonably accurate, powerful, and has a nice reload time. The speed of the Betka also means that you can shoot and relocate quickly, which is a staple when fighting other tanks. The small hitbox and thin profile from the front also means that the vehicle spotting logo is usually larger than the Betka herself, so even if you are spotted, there is still a chance that return fire will miss you altogether.
Remember, even if you think the Soviets get screwed with light armor, just play smart and these tanks will perform for you.
thanks for your time, guys. Good luck out there!
