AutoTools Plugin Update Aug 2015 - Bluetooth Device Query, Date Spans, Maths Sum/Avg/Min/Max, Data Encryp/Decrypt, Shorten URL...

The new AutoApps AutoTools alpha plugin keeps adding new features that make Tasker infinitely more useful. Some info on existing capabilities of this plugin can be found here and here.

João at AutoApps has now added an extensive list of new features to AutoTools:

• Test Internet Feature - Will Test For Actual Net Connection, not just if WiFi is connected to an access point or Mobile Data is set on etc. (which Tasker's builtin "Test>Net" Action currently can't tell you if an actual Internet connection is present).

• Bluetooth Query - Finds the name (and other BT info) of the currently connected (or disconnected) Bluetooth Device(s) at any point within a Task itself, without the need for any Profile trigger. However this also works great with the Profile "BT Connected" trigger as now - in the linked Task you can have Tasker determine what to do based on which Bluetooth device has actually connected.

• JSON Match - New "Match Option" in JSON action. Can be very useful: you have a list of cars, and just want to get the cars that are color "RED", just set match options to "color=RED" and you'll only get those cars.

• Date Add - Allows you to take a date, add some time to it and get a date back with the time added. Using with AutoVoice you could say to your device "What is the date 19 days from now?" and device could say "That date will be September 3, 2015" etc. Full date formatting is available for the output (i.e. yyyy-MM-dd HH:mm:ss) etc.

• Date Span Date ALSO allows Tasker to see how much time is left until a certain date. For example "How long until Dec 25, 2015?" will return time until that date: "4 Months, 7 Hours, 43 Minutes etc." in both total units as well as relative units.

• Text - Best Match option: you give it some text, a list of possible matches and it'll tell you what the most approximate match is. Similar to using a database query, allows creation of simulated databases within Tasker.

• Multiple Search/Replace - Currently in Tasker if you've got 4 unique items in a string you'd like to replace with something else, you're going to need 4 separate Variable Search Actions. This combines those into one Action.

• Data Encrypt Option to encrypt/decrypt any string of data you choose with any key you choose.

• Text Trim - Trim whitespace and newlines etc. from beginning and end of a data string. Can process multiple strings in one Action.

• Shorten URL - Returns a shortened URL using goo.gl to shorten a URL provided in any manner by Tasker.

• Math Functions - Adds batch number processing currently missing from Tasker such as: sum, average, minimum value, and maximum value from any provided list/set/array of numbers.
