Little PSA on the Apolis Chore Coats for future reference
Inspired by this chain of comments where I was gonna buy one of the indigo ACC's on sale, I emailed Apolis' CS. Basically to make it simple, I found 3 indigo ACC's around:
- The one that says 100% wool (W) on the tag that some people had
- This one that's currently on their website, which is 50%W, 40% cotton (C), 10% nylon (N)
- And this one (beware: that stupid fucking Huckberry site that makes you register to see the stuff, don't bother) where they say it's 30%W, 60%C, 10%N. Edit: Someone found it on Apolis' site, it's this one, so it is indeed another variant, designed with less wool for less bleeding.
So I emailed Apolis CS, asking what's the deal with those 3 variants, are there indeed 3, did something change, etc, and they said:
Thank you for your email and for your interest in Apolis. Unfortunately our Chore Jackets were never 100% Wool this was a misprint, it has always been the blend that you referenced in the link. I am sorry about any confusion.
Please let me know if I can assist you further.
This didn't really clear up the blend thing though; are there two different blends (the 50/40/10 and 30/60/10 ones), or did Huckberry just have bad info? Because as someone pointed out to me, the one on the huckberry site says:
After a year of planning we developed the Apolis American-made Chore Jacket in an Italian wool & cotton fabric with no indigo dye bleeding
Anyway, I asked:
Hi, thank you very much for the response.
I'm still a little confused though, sorry: which blend did you mean it has always been? Is there only one blend at all? Or is there both a 30% wool and also a 50% wool one?
They didn't really clear this up:
I was speaking based on our website. http://store.apolisglobal.com/store.item/itemGUID/87ECB376-7088-4971-A2A5-13DEEEAF5CA5/#raw-indigo
I'm not sure what that means. Anyway, my point here is that supposedly they were never 100% wool, despite what the tag said. I hope this helps someone. It'd be nice to know if there are actually two different blends out there or not.
edit: Alright, here's what I've figured out in the end:
- According to what a CS rep told this guy (though that goes against what they told me), they actually did make 100% wool ones at some point.
- Apparently, at some point they changed it (or not, if the CS rep I talked to was right) to the 50W/40C/10N version that's currently sold.
- There is also a 30/60/10 version but it's not indigo (just navy), and it's cheaper.
Not that this is 100% clear because we apparently got conflicting stuff from different CS reps, but hopefully it helps a little.
