Without further ado, here's Chapter 3.

Terror on Moonbase Alpha - Chapter 3

People don't talk about the coin wars very much anymore, and those that remember, those who were there, well there aren't many left who could tell you when, let alone how, it happened - how DOGE, of all things, managed to emerge the winner.

There was no shortage of suitors, that much was true. They had Bit-coins and Byte-coins and Light-coins and Dark-coins, each and every one of them proclaiming to be the answer to the world's woes. There were thousands upon thousands of coins that had come to litter the field by the end of it all, some named after countries, some named after rappers, each and every one of them, until their dying breath, proclaiming themselves the victor - the one last true answer.

And then there was Dogecoin.

The laughing-stock, the coin created as a joke -- born out of laughter but proud of it.

Dogecoin didn't really care about 'being the best' or creating 'revolutions' or anything of the sort.

It was a silly thing, this coin, but at its core it did pretty much the same things as all the others. It worked just as hard, moved just as fast but its secret was in that one tiny little bit extra - the thing that no other coin had:

It made people smile.

Where other coins sought to build high walls and power and exclusivity, Dogecoin played in the dirt with everyone else. The vast majority of everyone else.

Where other coins were kind enough to break off small portions of themselves for the 'lessers' out there, Dogecoin shared itself with the masses in fistfuls and encouraged others to do the same. It made money and sharing and acts of kindness... fun.

And in a world that had already been through so much strife and suffering, that had been searching for answers... perhaps it really was just that simple, smiling dog on a coin that gave them the sense of reassurance that they needed.

That, like that ol' best friend since the days of caves and campfires, whatever happened, our good old DOGE would be there by our side to help see us through it.

The real reason that no one can really tell you when Dogecoin won the coin wars is that there was no defined 'winning' moment. The how, on the other hand -- that was pretty easy to see, in hindsight.

Like so many things in life that we grow to love, they just worm their way in, make themselves home until you can never quite imagine your world without them. And that's pretty much exactly what Dogecoin did. Through good times and bad, it was there. A constant smile in a worrisome world.

Good, ol' reliable DOGE.

That did little, of course, to appease those who lost. Especially the governments of old who were none too happy about the rise of this cute little coin in the face of their own currencies.

And what infuriated them most was that Dogecoin didn't care.

Yet through each and every attack that would come, through the media, through the law, through outright cyberwarfare, Dogecoin survived. Not because it fought back, or marched through the halls of power... but simply because the people loved it and wanted it to live.

Dogecoin, in the end, reminded people of better days, of simpler days... and, at the very least, that they had a friend to persevere with.

It gave them hope.

Which is precisely why this latest attack on the Moonbase filled Jacob with dread.
