Does Cheaper Than Dirt have Discreet Packaging?

Like the title says, just wondering if the packaging from CTD is discreet for things like AR accessories and sights (no ammo, firearms etc). I am getting them shipped to my new address and just don't want my landlord to think anything negative of me. Any input is much appreciated in advance!

They don't emblazon the box with what you ordered. They do, however, stamp SEX TOYS and FOR BUTT STUFF all over the box.

I can't decide how disappointed I'd be if I thought a box contained sex toys for butt stuff, but it was really gun stuff. Because on the one hand butt stuff, but on the other hand gun stuff.

Thanks for introducing that philosophical crisis into my life.

That really needs to be a gift option at checkout.

Never buy from Lowerthandirt, never.

Yeah, I also hate companies that understand capitalism.

It is not about capitalism, they stopped selling high capacity magazines and "assault weapons" due to pressure from the antis for a period of time after sandy hook. They caved to the antis, they cannot be trusted to be good stewards of the 2A.

I understand supply and demand, sell your magazines for $100.00, but they were one of the only major gun retails besides FUDDS Dicks to cave and stop sale of "assault weapons".

Sell for whatever you like, I don't care. But don't cancel existing orders just so you can relist those items at the height of a panic. Honor your existing customers.

Yes this is another example of scumbag business practices.

They were probably holding back stock in anticipation of a price spike and product shortage. Not giving into the antis.

That is not the reason they gave though.

Cheaper Than Dirt! is suspending online sales of firearms effective immediately. We are reviewing our policy internally, and will continue to be the leader in the outdoor industry with our full line of gear and accessories.

They did not say "well we don't want to sell out". They said it in a way that they seemed to be caving to the antis.

Capitalism also means the consumer can word of mouth talk about a companies shitty business practices and recommend others avoid them. I'm not talking about cost a mags, I'm talking about CtD canceling existing orders so they could relist items at higher prices.

I feel I should avoid them for anything related to my glorious AR 10 freedom rifle

Part of a free market is that we get to choose not to give business to companies whose practices are not aligned with our own beliefs.

They're free to charge $100 for a P-mag and I'm free to think they're scummy as shit and not do business with them. By all means, CTD, sell all the $100 P-mags you can, as is your right. I, however, won't ever buy from them again even if they do have the lowest price.

1
TheBlindCat•

What did they say when you asked them?

6
StepPepperOP•

Nothing, because they are closed. I thought about the possible logo/slogan etc. on the label after the fact.

1
CmdrSquirrel3•

I will never understand this.

Why are you asking us instead of calling/emailing CTD and asking them?

5†
StepPepperOP•

They are closed and reddit is open; I figured I'd check here for some POM before sleeping on it and calling them tomorrow. Why is asking here a problem?

-2†
CmdrSquirrel3•

Because nothing said here has any bearing whatsoever on this issue.

If you're worried about it, calling CTD and either asking for plain packaging or inquiring whether it's standard is the only logical course of action. Amazon suddenly started sending their stuff out in Minion boxes, much to my surprise one day. If I was concerned, calling Amazon would have been the only way to know this would happen and avoid it.

StepPepperOP•

Anyone who has ordered parts or accessories from CTD on this subreddit has bearing on this 'issue'... I simply want to know if a sight or quad rail will come in a box with their logo/slogan slapped on it, or if it is just a cardboard box with 'CTD' and the return address on it or something similar in discretion. I'll call them tomorrow if it's such a hassle for someone to answer such a simple question.

The packaging could change tomorrow. The best answer is the one that comes straight from the company, or they could at least tell you what your options are.

3
tgallmey•

They will usually say "From Cheaper Than Dirt" but if you're concerned about discretion just setup with the shipper to pickup the package when you get your tracking number and shipping confirmation.

4
StepPepperOP•

Ok, thank you!

I will never order from CTD again after a scam they pulled on me once. They used to have a box that you had to unselect on their online ordering to remove you from some "club" that had a monthly recurring charge. I didn't realize it until a couple of credit card cycles, then they tried to tell me I knowingly signed up for this service. It appears that they got a lot of people with this scam and read about the attorney general in that state made them stop the practice. Bad business to me.
