Follow-up Blood Panel
Hi there r/AskDocs. Apologies in advance for the lengthy post. My previous post from 7 months ago can be found here., however, I will provided all the updated and necessary information in this new post.
My main question is written in bold at the bottom of this post.
Age = 23
Sex = Male
Height = 6 feet
Weight = 198 lbs
Race = White (Armenian)
Duration of complaint = Years
Location = Los Angeles, CA
Any existing relevant medical issues (if any) = Diagnosed ADHD, also have been hospitalized for
myocarditis/inflammation in the heart and lung tissue but imaging indicates a healthy heart. Was caused by smoking
electronic cigarettes at a high nicotine level for a long period while being a non-smoker.
Current medications (if any) = Adderall XR 30 mg 3 times a week (Currently out of the country and have none)
Upon request I can provide any necessary blood work from the last couple of years.
It's important to note that I've always had a low sex drive, low energy, sleep issues, and I'm constantly living in a fog with many simultaneous, racing thoughts of which I am not able to control my focus on which thought I would like to at any given time. My perception is rarely vivid and I struggle with successfully exercising my awareness.
My mother's side has a history of heart issues, my mother was diagnosed with hypothyroidism a few years back. My father's side has a history of diabetes and prostate and other cancers. Also they've been known to have low HDL cholesterol levels. My grandfather was a super fit championship boxer for his country. My father is obese at 350 lbs same height as me and is a Type 2 Diabetic, he also has hemorrhoids and an iron deficiency.
Some more background on me, one year ago I was a little depressed and despondent and gained weight (185 lbs to 237 lbs) and 9.5 months ago I started to hit the gym and now I am currently at 198lbs
I finally decided to check whats going on inside my body and had a bunch of lab work done. The flags include the following:
MCH = 26.0 pg (27.0 - 33.0)
HDL = 34 mg/dL (>40 but I'd prefer >60)
Cholesterol/HDL Ratio = 5.18 (<5.60)
CRP HI Sensitive = 4.0 mg/L
Vitamin D 25-OH = 11.8 ng/mL (30.0 - 100.0) [<---]
TSH33 Ultra-sense = 1.72 uIU/mL (0.55-4.78) [Not a flag but relevant]
PH Urine = 8.0
Testosterone Total LC/MS/MS = 310 ng/dL (250 - 1,100) [<---]
Free Testosterone = 64.4 pg/mL (35.0 - 155.0) [<---]
What really stuck out to me was a possible pituitary issue and the extremely low testosterone and Vitamin D levels. I decided to order some supplements and such. I already take Whey Protein (Optimum Nutrition Platinum Hydro Whey) post workout. I also take L-theanine 200 mg with Caffeine 200mg before a workout. Here's what I've been taking these last 7 months:
Vitamin D3 = 4000 UI a day [Nutrigold]
ZMA = 30 mg Zinc, 450 mg Magnesium, 30 mg B6 [Optimum Nutrition] (Stopped a few months ago)
Creatine Monohydrate = 5 g a day [Optimum Nutrition]
Spirulina = 3-4 g [Nutrex Hawaii Hawaiian Spirulina Pacifica]
After my previous bloodwork seven months prior I am finally ready to see how my body has changed and have some additional tests done. I'm having some blood panels done tomorrow morning. Based on what I've written above, these are the tests I'm going to ask for. What do you guys think of these:
Prolactin
LH
FSH
Vitamin D
Full Thyroid Panel
Testosterone
Cholesterol
C-Reactive Protein
In general do you guys recommend any other panels? Based on my family history, personal medical history, and current supplementation/medication (Adderall, Creatine, etc.) are there any other panels I should look into (Iron, B12, Zinc, Magnesium, Potassium, Calcium, CMP, CDC, other electrolytes, TSH/T4, A1C, Liver or Kidney Function, etc)?
Thanks for checking out my post and reading this far. I appreciate it.
