Who is your arch-nemesis?

For me it is Ramalamadingong, he seems to snowball out of control in every game and ally literally every single city-state. Unless I am also playing a civ/strat focused on city-states with patronage, it is really hard to keep him under control.

He also seems to be in my games two thirds of the time, not to mention he easily denounces you but will invade all his neighbours if allowed to snowball.

If I spawn near him I rush him as soon as possible before he can get his food, culture and science snowball going.

Dido. She was the first to make me realize that another leader having a "Friendly" attitude with you didn't mean shit. I've never forgiven her ever since.

The dying chicken noise she makes at the start of her intro speech is priceless. It's translated as "brwkw" but really sounds more like BR͚͈̙͎R̝̠̳̮͕͜R̸͖͖̘̫͚R͓̰̳̗̱R͏͈͚̠̲̖̪Ẉ̗̺W͈W҉̖̣̤̣͙͍̩W̫͟K͡KW̱̯̜̙͎̹̯͟W̝̳̗͓͢W͓̥̹̱̱̭͞W̵̮ͅW̸͚͖̗͈̼̲̯. Right up there with Attila for startling introductions.

(I may or may not have backstabbed her and used 17 nukes on her. And no, I was not playing as Russia.)

Actually it's ramkgngknglnging for me too. I play on emperor, and he always spawns really far away from me, gets really far ahead in science and fucks shit up.

Ram and Alex are the two leaders I least like to start near. They're passive-aggressive, forward-settling pricks in the early game; unlike Monty, Shaka, Askia, Suleiman, and Attila, they won't do you the favor of declaring war early and suicidally charging your capital. By the time they do decide to attack, they'll have an irresistible unit carpet -- but if you strike first to forestall that, you get the warmonger penalty. They play wide and rarely build wonders, making their cities much less attractive to take. They also both have strong runaway potential for that reason.

Mid-late game, they're both aggressive at allying with city-states, which makes it really hard to get anything done with the world congress, or get extra culture/happiness from CS quests. They're also insanely fickle and will turn on you in a second if you do something they don't like.

Have to agree with many others here and say Alexander. I usually pick my own civ and then go all random and, like so many other civ players, I swear to god he ends up in every game I play, almost always on the same continent. His city-state allying is fairly annoying, but the truly awful thing about Alexander is his willingness to forward settle, condemn YOU for hemming HIM in, hoplite spam, and, of course, backstab like a motherfucker.

People on here give Dido and Atilla a bad time about their treachery, but in my personal experience no one is a shameless dick like Alex. The upside is that I've never quite relished razing every city of a civ like I have his. I've made Athen's streets run red with the blood of its own people many, many times in the past, and I will continue to do so every time that little prick has the misfortune of spawning near me with his bullshit.

Venice. Sometimes I will quit games he is in. President of the passive aggressive club. He pledges to protect every single CS and throws a hissy fit if you so much as gain a single cs friend. God forbid you get a cs ally then he'll bitch at you, denounce you, and then puppet your ally. All the other AI are plugged into the Venice hive mind so if he hates you everyone hates you. Oh and he will never forgive you. I hate him so much that if I see a merchant of Venice i almost always DoW to kill it no matter the circumstances.

Vanilla Alexander was the all time worst especially with the old patronage tree. He simply owned all CS and there wasn't much you could do about it. War with him almost always meant every CS near you would declare on you as well.

Atilla. Every single fucking game that asshole spawns or on the same continent or very close to me and repeatedly tries to buy "passage through my territory" for ridiculous prices while building (or taking) more cities than Genghis Khan makes children.

I've got several, but I think my most hated is tied between Greece, Rome, and Arabia. They don't want none of my shit. Even if I try to align with them in a fresh game.

Japan, the number of games he has backstabbed me in is unreal. Alexander and especially Shaka because of forward settling, 8 cities before turn 75, get outta here!

I don't think I've ever had a problem Ramalankadumbfuckistan. Ie's never a problem for me. Even if I spawn near him, he's an idiot and can easily be murdered.

Now Sillyman on the other hand. Fuck that guy. Every time.

Seems like my relationship with all AI's has been pretty balanced, save Alexander. Although not bothered by him for some time, historically he's the most infuriating for me.

Dido or Wu. Literally showing up early in every single game, forward settling me, bitching about my territory after they do it, constantly declaring war and backstabbing me, then begging for peace and demanding three of my cities in the process once I crush them.

Holy fucking shit I don't know why, but any game that involves them being anywhere near me is instantly ruined once I meet them. No other leaders manage to piss me off this badly.

vfkazaWarrior found Battering Ram in the Ruins!•

Probably between william of the netherlands or russia, they always seem to play ridiculously wide, settling at least like 20 cities and then complain if your city happens to be near one of their cities they settle on turn 200, so if you wanna attack them you have to get through a wall of useless cities with no resources let alone luxuries near them

1
jovins343•

Washington's just a ridiculous hypocrite.

I declare war on someone for forward settling me/great prophet bombing me/using a great general? Instant denounce, can't believe I'm doing that.

Then he declares war on his weaker neighbor just to take their land.

Also the first civ game I ever played he ended up controlling the whole map and I lost to him and I've never really forgiven him.

Monty. He always forwards settles me and declares war shortly after, even though there are multiple other weaker civs in between us. I mean literally even if we are on the opposite ends of the continent, he stills marches his settler across all that land. Every single game.
