A lot of states historically while bankrupt kept a competent and capable force if a bit under equipped and under-supplied. There is no reason for bankruptcy to apply its own morale penalty, just make it a huge prestige hit on top of legitimacy hit which are morale penalties, as long as you can still pay the soldiers I don't see why there shouldn't be extra morale penalty on its own.

Plus I think there should be an option to default on particular debts at the cost of perhaps MP and prestige.

Whenever I am playing Aztecs, I like to play for science but I also don't shy away from wars in which I just kill units but don't take cities, usually these wars are defensive wars which I abuse upgraded jaguars in my rough terrain lands to hunt down invading units.

One problem I have is, the 4-5 cities I have grow way too tall, taller than I have good tiles and specialist slots to work even when I am leading in science. This is also further escalated by the fact Aztecs get a lot of culture from combat but not as much from buildings, which means they don't acquire that many tiles except in the capital.

The 15% growth bonus from tradition's finisher, combined with aqueducts, watermills and

For me it is Ramalamadingong, he seems to snowball out of control in every game and ally literally every single city-state. Unless I am also playing a civ/strat focused on city-states with patronage, it is really hard to keep him under control.

He also seems to be in my games two thirds of the time, not to mention he easily denounces you but will invade all his neighbours if allowed to snowball.

If I spawn near him I rush him as soon as possible before he can get his food, culture and science snowball going.

I ragequit if I don't get chicken pizza as Persia or Petra as Arabia and Morocco. Easier as Persia because you can get a great engineer from liberty and build it as soon as you get civil service but I had occasions where AI built it before I even got to civil service, this is especially true because your liberty start might not pay off if there aren't good settle locations. I restart start location several times until I get 2+ sea resources on my capital as Japan. I also hate having Pocatello as my neighbour and will almost always try to rush them and if I fail I ragequit.

Won this game yesterday, had a very good desert folklore and petra start, went for a petra rush and got it and national college before turn 120. I think if I kept playing after I won a culture victory I could easily go over 150 million because my two core cities still kept growing every 6 or so turns. I settled 4 cities myself and got all the rest from Shaka, which he took from Netherlands, France and Brazil. Standard speed, standard size continents and emperor difficulty.

Also bonus.

Found this little thing at turn one when I went for an ancient ruin, which had extra population in it. Bought settler at turn 1 and settled near sri pada for that food, faith and happiness, had a pantheon by turn 10 and a religion by turn 23.

Basically starting with two capitals and a religion, this must be how it is for AI when you play on deity.
