The Forgotten Background - 117 collected videos between 15.03.2011-31.12.2011 of the civil movement in multiple Syrian cities
Update: I added links to a linkified and a chronologically ordered versions of list contributed by other members.
Last year, I started thinking how the first year of the Syrian crisis (pre-actual-civil-war) is almost completely gone from the memories of anybody even a little familiar with the civil war - that there was a time when there was an uprising, that it wasn't all just ISIS/SDF/NDF/FSA/SSA/Nusra/SomethingElse. It seemed like everything that happened in 2011 and 2012 has disappeared.
So, I tried to assemble a list of 200 videos from all over Syria showing the first period of the uprising. After searching YouTube over the period of multiple weeks, I fell short on my target and gave up. Today, I decided that I'll put the list out somewhere. Maybe it's meaningless at this point, but maybe somebody will find something in it.

Guide to navigating the list:
-
YouTube search sucks,
so the videos are sadly not in a chronological order. In hindsight, I could have written a small script and used Google API to query the timestamps and order the videos. -
Expect 2-3% duplicates, wrong city, or otherwise just some mistake.
-
I only included videos in which I was able to verify the city in which the video was taken. I relied on personal knowledge from visits or living in the areas, certain shops, car plates, help from friends original from those cities, etc.

This list is exactly what I described - a list of collected videos showcasing the civil movement from that period. However, if you feel like you want a story, I'll still include a short description of myself with some information that shouldn't have anything to do with the list.
About me: I'm someone who has lived the uprising from its first day. I went on protests, I took videos, I took photos, I watched friends die in front of me or a few meters away from me. I witnessed and was part of the largely peaceful uprising, but I also witnessed and advocated against many cases of violence (of varying degrees) by some protestors. I was arrested and tortured a few times, but not for very long periods of time.
